Review of Ban Antiperspirant Deodorant – Shower Fresh Solid

I received a .42 ounce sample size of Ban Invisible Solid antiperspirant and deodorant in the mail a month ago. The full size is 2.6 ounces. Mine was a solid, roll up deodorant in the “Shower Fresh” scent. It is also available in these other scents: Powder Fresh, Sweet Surrender, Intensely Fresh, Floral Fusion, Satin Breese, Paradise Winds, Regular and Unscented.

The product comes in a lime green colored plastic container, and the product rolls up from the bottom with an easy turn dial. The antiperspirant/deodorant is a solid consistency, and although it is a white color it does go on invisible, as the front of the container claims.

About the Ingredients

Active Ingredients: Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex GLY 19%

Inactive Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Stearyl Alcohol, Talc, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PPG-14 Butyl Ether, Phellodendron Amurense Bark Extract, Oleic Acid, Santalum Album Extract (Sandalwood Extract), Behenyl Alcohol, Hordeum Distichon Extract Barley, Silica, Fragrance.

* Santalum Album is a yellow sandalwood (there are many different varieties of sandalwood), and it has anti-septic properties for the skin. It has a wonderful woodsy scent that I have always loved.

Does It Work?

Ban does work pretty well. It goes a long way too, I’ve been using this for a month, and my trial size is only 2/3 gone. On a normal day I find it gives me good protection from both perspiration and odor, but if I am busy doing yard work or other activities where I work up a sweat, my clothing does indeed get wet and betrays me with that tale tell scent of perspiration.

I always prefer using a combination antiperspirant and deodorant. A deodorant all by itself does nothing to prevent perspiration, it just covers up body odors. An antiperspirant, on the other hand, will prevent the odor by reducing perspiration. The effective ingredient in Ban that reduces the production of sweat is aluminum salt.

I’ve used roll on deodorants that have caused a burning sensation when used immediately after shaving my underarms, but the Ban Invisible Solid does not sting or burn. Even though the product is white, it does go on my skin clear. If I use too much, however, I have had problems getting some white residue on my sweaters but it does wash off cleanly.

The smell is wonderful, I can’t wait to try the other scents.

Ban solid has a shelf life of up to three years, so you won’t have to worry about this product going bad on you. Ban makes several different types of personal care deodorants, but they state that their Invisible Solids are the most effective of them all. It retails for $3.49.
