As I mentioned in an earlier review, our youngest daughter (5 months) is now able to eat solid foods in addition to her formula.
We started her out on cereal and oatmeal but, on Thanksgiving, we felt she was ready for some vegetables too. So, we headed to our local store to pick up some baby food.
We had a few brands to choose from but we ultimately picked up the brand Nature’s Goodness; based mostly on price. So far, it has proven to be a good choice.
Like good parents, we are taking our time introducing our daughter to each vegetable; usually feeding her the same one for a couple of weeks before changing to another one. Since it was Thanksgiving, the first one we started her out on was sweet potatoes.
I’m obviously not going to be able to give you a first hand account of what the Nature’s Goodness baby food tastes like. I just can’t bring myself to taste it (and was never a sweet potato fan to begin with). But, my daughter definitely loves it.
When we first introduced her to the baby food, we figured, at most, she would eat a little bit of it and then spend some time deciding whether or not she had liked it. After all, it was the first food we gave her that wasn’t mixed with her formula; meaning it wouldn’t have a familiar taste. But, she ended up eating two bowls worth of the sweet potatoes. And, whenever she saw she was getting them, her eyes would light up and she would get very excited.
Sweet potatoes are, of course, sweet. So, we weren’t sure if she really liked these vegetables until we tried her with something a bit more bland; carrots. Once again, she tried the vegetable and loved them enough to eat more than one bowl’s worth (if she’s hungry, she can go through a whole jar in a sitting). However, we did learn the carrots upset her stomach a bit so she’s back to the sweet potatoes for the time being.
Looking at the label on the jar, I could see no reason why this brand isn’t as good as other brands on the store shelf. Given the fact it was a bit more affordable than others and my daughter seems to love the vegetables, it is a brand I definitely will be buying more of in the future. I might not even look at other baby foods.
