Publisher’s Clearing House – a Clear Scam

Is Publisher’s Clearing House a good place to do business with? Whether it be entering the Publisher’s Clearing House Contests, or buying merchandise from Publisher’s Clearing House, should you do it?

Iowa AG Warns Residents About Publishers’ Clearing House says that “Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller has issued a warning to seniors in his state to be wary of sweepstakes mailings that make it appear they are close to winning a major sweepstakes prize.” Iowa AG Warns Residents About Publishers’ Clearing House goes on to say that “He singled out Publishers Clearing House, saying the company’s mailings suggest the chances of winning may go up if they order more merchandise or magazines.

I don’t like Publisher’s Clearing House tactics, which I know about because one of my relatives enters the Publisher’s Clearing House Sweepstakes quite often. First of all, they always try to sell my relative some sort of merchandise that she doesn’t need. At first, she didn’t fall for the Publisher’s Clearing House selling tactics, but then after awhile she bought a couple of items from them. So, Publisher’s Clearing house did use effective selling techniques, I guess. I don’t think selling stuff and sweepstakes should mix like Publisher’s Clearing House tries to make it mix. My relative, even if she didn’t order anything, would enter the sweepstakes. She would waste postage sending in the envelope to enter the Publisher’s Clearing House Sweepstakes, only to get another mailing from Publisher’s Clearing house about two weeks later saying that she needed to send in another entry to continue being in the contest. She would then send another Publisher’s Clearing House Entry in, and they would send her even another mailing. How many times does a person have to enter a contest? Should a person have to send back an entry form three different times like Publisher’s Clearing House has people do? I don’t think so.

I am not impressed with Publisher’s Clearing House at all, and I think it’s just a big gimmick. I absolutely refuse to enter any of the Publisher’s Clearing House Sweepstakes myself. Publisher’s Clearing House does usually give someone some prize money, but how much money do they make off of the people that buy the Publisher’s Clearing House is selling? Publisher’s Clearing House just tries to get people to buy their products. That’s why Publisher’s Clearing House sends out so many mailings – every mailing is another chance for Publisher’s Clearing House to profit off of someone’s purchases.
