Popular Baby Girl Names for 2009

For those who are expecting or thinking about having a baby, the thought of baby names has mostly likely crossed your mind.

Choosing baby names is not an easy process, all parents want to make sure they are giving their child a name that is fitting and proper to that child.

Girls names can be overwhelming to choose from but a selection of baby names every year prove to be the most popular. Looking at trends from last year and moving into 2009, the following baby girl names will most likely prove to be popular girl names.

Isabella

The origin of the name is Italian and the meaning is a devotion to God. The name has gained popularity in part due to famous celebrities naming their daughters with this lovely name.

Ava

This origin of the name is Latin and the meaning is like a bird. I am particularly fond of this name because it is not only a quick spell with only 3 letters but I also think it is quite beautiful.

Madeline

The origin of the name is Hebrew and the meaning is woman from Magdala. Every time I see this name, it brings back fond childhood memories for me and time spent reading the Madeline books.

Olivia

The origin of the name is English and the meaning comes from the Olive. The name Olivia also makes me think about the character from a children’s book called Olivia.

Chloe

The origin of the name is Greek and the meaning comes from the idea of blooming or growing fast. This name is very cute although a drawback it seems is many people have difficulty with the spelling of it.

Hannah

The origin of the name is Hebrew and the meaning comes from the grace of God. The most famous Hannah I know is Hannah Montana, how could this name not be popular.

Kaitlin

The origin of the name is Irish and the meaning is pure. I am particularly fond of this name as it is my daughter’s name. A drawback of this name is there are more spelling variations on it than I can count on one hand, my daughter is continually having to give the spelling of her variation.

Sophia

The origin of the name is Greek and the meaning is wisdom. This is another one of the baby girl names that I think is elegant but yet cute.

Addison

The origin of the name is Old English and the meaning is child of Adam. I do find this name to be cute but from my personal experience of living in Illinois, there is town in Illinois with the same name and my connections are always made to this town when I hear the name.

Elizabeth

The origin of the name is Hebrew and the meaning is God is my oath. I have always found this name to be beautiful and no matter how many times I hear it, I never tire of its eloquence.

Girls names are not always easy to choose from but keep in mind that no matter what you decide to name your baby, you will look at your child as they grow up and you will not be able to imagine your child with any other name than the one you chose for them.
