Perdue Italian Style Turkey Meatballs

At an AA meeting group’s anniversary party that I recently attended, a wealth of food items were offered on long, paper-covered tables. Among the items that I particularly enjoyed that evening were some fairly small meatballs that were swimming in marinara sauce. After asking one of the individuals who was serving food, where the meatballs came from, she told me that they were actually Perdue Italian Style Turkey Meatballs, which are fully-cooked meatballs.

To be honest, I had never heard of packaged turkey meatballs prior to that evening. I told the woman that I would like to write a review of the meatballs and she said that two empty Perdue Italian Style Turkey Meatballs boxes were still in the kitchen. I kept one of the boxes for research purposes and thanked her very much.

Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is one food writer’s product review of Perdue Italian Style Turkey Meatballs.

Size
The net weight of the standard – sized package of Perdue Italian Style Turkey Meatballs is 12 ounces. According to the package label, the container holds four servings of four meatballs. For most people, I guess this serving size is realistic, but these turkey meatballs taste so good that many people are likely to eat more than four.

Price
The regular retail price charged for one 12 ounce package of Perdue Italian Style Turkey Meatballs at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets is approximately $2.99. I definitely think that this price is reasonable. It works out to approximately $0.18c per meatball.

Texture
These meatballs offer a nice texture that in my opinion, is quite similar to ground beef and / or sausage meatballs. There is a good ratio of meat to breadcrumbs and the meatballs are bound together well. When I ate these meatballs, with sauce and pasta, their texture was just as pleasing as many varieties of beef and / or sausage meatballs.

Nutritional Facts
Perdue Italian Style Turkey Meatballs contain 180 calories, with 90 calories from fat, per four meatball serving. These tasty meatballs also contain 3.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams polyunsaturated fat, 10 grams total fat, 45 mg of cholesterol, 520 mg of sodium, 5 grams total carbohydrates, less than 1 gram of dietary fiber, 0 grams of sugars and 15 grams of protein, per four meatball serving.

Taste / Flavor
When I ate these meatballs recently, what I noticed right away were the delicious flavor and texture that they offered. I could tell that they were not made from beef, but I was guessing that they were made from chicken or veal, or maybe some sort of meat alternative. When the woman at the party told me that the meatballs were made from turkey, I was quite surprised.

These Italian style meatballs are made with turkey, parmesan and pecorino romano cheeses, parsley, onion, garlic and other ingredients. Their flavor is pleasant and mellow and they are nicely seasoned. I think if many consumers tried Perdue Italian Style Turkey Meatballs, they would become fans of this item.

Packaging
Perdue Italian Style Turkey Meatballs are packaged in a blue and yellow cardboard box. The box features a cutaway window through which one can view the plastic wrapped meatballs. The box opens easily and re-closes effectively and the rearlists all pertinent ingredient and nutritional information.

Overall Rating
If you like tasty, Italian style meatballs, chances are you’ll enjoy the flavor and texture of these fully – cooked turkey meatballs. These meatballs are not only very flavorful, but they are also reasonably – priced and can be heated quickly. Stocked in the meat case at many supermarkets across America, Perdue Italian Style Turkey Meatballs are highly recommended by this food writer.
