While the prices may be a dollar or two more, the savings in shipping can be substantial. While I have yet to see an online coupon code for Amazon, the shipping discount can be in excess of $10, depending on quantity and type(s) of items ordered.
Next, if you are having difficulties matching up coupons and catalogs, ask for help. If you see something that you want to purchase via catalog, but have an online coupon, call customer service. I have seen online coupons for merchandise discounts but could not find the specific catalog item listed on a retailer’s website, so I contacted customer service. Most times all you have to do is provide them with the coupon code and they will be happy to take your order. I have had positive experiences with The Disney Store and Yankee Candle Company accommodating my requests.
Finally, if you can shop at the same retailer in your town, browse catalogs and websites to find what you are looking for. This will save you time and money. While shopping online is more convenient, some retailers charge sales tax in addition to shipping charges. By eliminating the shipping charge, you san save money and inspect merchandise in the store to make sure it is not damaged. By visiting the website or catalog first, you can also see if there are any printable coupons for in-store discounts. With careful research, consumers can save on both shipping costs, while receiving a generous discount.
These methods may be somewhat time consuming, but in the end, saving money is the bottom line for most consumers when shopping.
