NASCAR Race Shops in North Carolina

Below you will find a list of Race Shops/Museums in North Carolina. This is the first part of a series of articles to make the ultimate Race shop guide. Most of them are free. If you want to see them working in the shops it is best to go during the week or even better on “off” racing week. The is never anything going on at the shops on race weekends.

The building is fabulous. Definitely worth the stop. You can’t see where they actually work on the cars but there is a gift shop, lots of memorabilia, and cars to see.

I haven’t been here personally. But they do have a garage viewing window so you can see them work on the cars.

3) Roush Racing

4600 Roush Place NW

Concord, NC 28027

704-720-4350

Shop: Mon-Fri 9-5

Museum: Mon-Fri 10-5

Sat 10-2

This place is fabulous. Whether you’re a Roush fan or not. They have a gorgeous museum and gift shop. The race shops have viewing windows so you can see what I going on.

4) Hendrick Motorsports

4400 Papa Joe Hendrick Blvd.

Charlotte, NC 28262

704-455-3400

Mon-Fri 9-5

I am not a Hendrick fan, but this complex is amazing. The Museum and gift shop are great. They have the Car Cole Trickle drove in Days of Thunder. They are just a few minutes from Lowes Motor Speedway. You can view a few of the shops but access is very limited.

5) Joe Gibbs Racing

13415 Reese Blvd. West

Huntersville, NC 28078

704-944-5000

Mon-Fri 9-4

This place is a little tricky to find. You will pass it up if you are not paying attention. They have a second floor shop viewing area, gift shop, and museum.

6) Richard Childress Museum

425 Industrial Drive

Welcome, NC 27374

336-731-3334

Mon-Fri 9-5

I saved this place for last because it is fabulous. They have a Museum, $10.00 to get in, but it is fantastic. It is in the old Childress Racing shop. There are TV monitors everywhere, either showing you what they use to do in sections of the shop or clips from past races. The have close to 50 race used cars there as well. Dale Earnhardt SR and Kevin Harvick Cars everywhere. There is also a Wildlife Preserve that is very neat to walk thru. The Museum is run by Chocolate Myers, Dale SR’s catch can man, who I have seen both times I was there. They is a large gift shop and a fan walk thru where you can view all three teams at work.

This is just the beginning of the list of shops you can see while in North Carolina. I started with these because they are the best of the best.
