Marie Callender’s Peach Cobbler Review

I love to be able to pull a dessert out of the freezer on a busy weekday and pop it in the oven while I prepare the rest of the meal. One of my favorites is cobbler. I love almost every flavor of cobbler, but one of my favorites is peach. Unfortunately, a lot of companies can’t seem to get peach cobbler right. Some have peaches that have no flavor and are hard as a rock. Others have fruit that is cooked to mush. Maybe I’m just picky. After all, I grew up eating homemade peach cobbler that was prepared with fresh, perfectly ripe peaches. Still, a while back I decided to give one more brand a try. That brand was Marie Callender’s. Would Marie Callender’s Peach Cobbler be any better than the other brands I had tried?

First of all, let me begin by sayings that I’ve been a big fan of Marie Callender’s products for several years. So, I had high hopes for the peach cobbler. Upon opening the package I discovered that the cobbler was much bigger than other brands I had purchased. The directions were easy enough. You allow the peach cobbler to sit on the counter while the oven preheats. Right before you place it in the oven, you cut 5 to 6 holes in the crust to allow the steam from the filling to vent. The cobbler takes around 50 to 60 minutes to bake.

Marie Callender’s Peach Cobbler is actually so good that you don’t even need ice cream. The crust is incredibly flakey. It’s almost like puff pastry, but denser. The filling is sweet and spiced with cinnamon, but it isn’t overly sweet. The important part of this cobbler though is that the peaches are absolutely perfect. The have the right taste and texture and you can tell that they were perfectly ripe when they were prepared for the cobbler.

Marie Callender’s Peach Cobbler is far from healthy though. A serving 330 calories, 170 calories from fat, 19 grams of fat, 4 grams of saturated fat, 5 grams of trans fat, 0mg of cholesterol, 160mg of sodium, 38 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of fiber, 17 grams of sugar, 3 grams of protein, 60% of your daily Vitamin C and 6% of your daily iron.

I would give Marie Callender’s Peach Cobbler 5 out of 5 stars. This is one of the best frozen desserts I have ever had. I can’t recommend this product enough. If peach isn’t one of your favorite flavors, there is also cherry, apple and berry flavors to choose from.
