Kellogg’s Frosted Mini-Wheats Strawberry Delight is Healthy and Delicious

I have always been a big fan of Kellogg’s cereal varieties. Two of my favorite varieties of Kellogg’s cereal are Shredded Wheat and its miniature counterpart Frosted Mini-Wheats. While Shredded Wheat is slightly healthier than Frosted Mini-Wheats due to its lower sugar content, Frosted Mini-Wheats is still a healthy way to increase one’s fiber intake. Since most Americans’ diets are woefully lacking in fiber, Frosted Mini-Wheats is an effective and tasty way to get one’s daily dose of fiber and get a hearty breakfast before starting the day. My wife recently purchased Kellogg’s Frosted Mini-Wheats Strawberry Delight, which is a flavorful and innovated variation on the classic Shredded Wheat and Frosted Mini-Wheats.

The distinguishing characteristic of Kellogg’s Frosted Mini-Wheats Strawberry Delight is that the familiar frosting on the Mini-Wheats is pink and strawberry flavored. While I am traditional not a huge fan of strawberry flavoring, preferring myself to just eat real strawberries if I want strawberry flavoring, the natural and artificial strawberry flavoring in Kellogg’s Frosted Mini-Wheats Strawberry Delight is actually very good. It is by no means comparable to a fresh strawberry, but the flavoring is better and more accurate than other strawberry-flavored food products I have tasted. Plus the strawberry flavoring turns the surrounding milk a pleasant shade of pink, which makes for a very colorful breakfast!

As mentioned above, one of the most important benefits of Kellogg’s Frosted Mini-Wheats Strawberry Delight is its fiber content. A single serving of 24 mini-wheats biscuits contains five grams of fiber, which is twenty percent of the day’s recommended supply of dietary fiber. While a bowl of Kellogg’s Frosted Mini-Wheats Strawberry Delight is not sufficient as one’s only fiber source, twenty percent of the daily supply of fiber at one time is still a whopping punch of fiber and even better than many Americans do in one whole day.

The only downside to Kellogg’s Frosted Mini-Wheats Strawberry Delight is the sheer sweetness of the frosting. With normal Frosted Mini-Wheats, I do not find the frosting to be unnecessarily or unacceptably sweet. But with the Strawberry Delight variety of Frosted Mini-Wheats, I find the strawberry flavoring unnaturally sweet for my taste at times. I have to really be in the mood for a breakfast cereal this sweet, most of the time preferring an unsweetened cereal like Kellogg’s Special K or even Grape Nuts. But if I am in the mood for a sweetened cereal that is less sweet than sugary children’s cereals, then Kellogg’s Frosted Mini-Wheats Strawberry Delight is the perfect answer for the desire for a sweet but healthy breakfast cereal.
