Attending college usually requires you to have a job with flexible hours. Unfortunately, many companies are not willing to offer flexible hours, even to college students. Fortunately, there are several companies that will offer flexible hours to college students. These companies may not pay the best money or have the best benefits, but they are willing to work around your schedule as much as possible.

Jobs That Offer Flexible Hours for College Students #1: Fast Food Restaurants

Fast food restaurants are one of the best places to find flexible hours. Many fast food restaurants are even willing to give college students split shifts, allowing them to work in between their classes. If your college is close to a fast food restaurant, a split shift maybe the perfect option. You could go to class and work without working late into the night. Also fast food restaurants offer discounts and free meals, making it the perfect option for college students on a tight budget.

Jobs That Offer Flexible Hours for College Students #2: Grocery Stores

Another place to find a job with flexible hours is at your local grocery store. While most employees will have to come in and work a shift from 7 to 3, college students are usually given more flexible hours. For example, college students maybe able to come in and work from 12 to 8. There is also the option of working third shift. If you want to work in the deli or bakery department of a grocery store, you may have a hard time getting flexible hours, but cashiers, stockers, and baggers can usually get very flexible hours.

Jobs That Offer Flexible Hours for College Students #3: Retail Stores

Places like Walmart are one of the best places for college students to work. Walmart is more than flexible with its hours and they actually prefer college students who are looking for part-time jobs. Many Walmarts are even open 24 hours, making it even easier to obtain a job that fits your schedule. You may even be able to get a job that starts in the middle of the night, allowing you to head off to class right after work.

Jobs That Offer Flexible Hours for College Students #4: Freelance Writing

Freelance writing is one job that will allow you to change your hours at a moments notice. The hours you work are completely up to you when you write for a company like Associated Content. You can spend time in between classes brainstorming topics and then you can write your articles after class. Plus, when you get done with a semester you can submit all your old research papers and get paid for them. It’s easy to make a living writing for a company like Associated Content, especially if you have the hours to devote to this job. The hours you devote do not have to a solid block either. You could write for three hours, go to class, and then come home and finish up your day’s work.
