Independence Day Poem

Fourth of July or Independence Day,

Was the day America got its way.

No more control from across the pond.

No more waiting for the king to respond.

Our founding fathers signed a paper,

On how America would be now and later.

America would be a country of choices.

People could stand up and raise their voices.

People were given rights,

Time to bring the world into a new light.

Red, white and blue became our colors.

We were going to live as brothers.

Since that day, we’ve been free.

That’s how it is and will be.
