Ideas for Decorating a Girl’s Bedroom with Sock Monkeys

Sock monkeys are currently quite popular, but the design of the loveable stuffed creature is nothing new. I had a sock monkey when I was a little girl. My great grandmother made it by hand, and I remember it fondly. These days, monkeys made from work socks or similar materials are available in just about every color of the rainbow, and they are a great decorating theme for a girl’s bedroom.

I have thought of ways that I would use sock monkeys when decorating a girl’s bedroom, and I came up with a number of creative ideas. They can be used for more than just shelf decor. The adorable vintage monkeys with bright red smiles and rear ends to match can be used in functional and decorative ways.

Consider Decorating the Bed with a Giant Sock Monkey

Sock monkeys come in all sizes from very small to three feet tall. A large one would be ideal when decorating a girl’s bedroom. I have one in between the pillows at the head of my bed. The manufacturer named it Max .

When I saw Max at Walgreen’s I had to take him home. If I was planning on decorating a girl’s bedroom with sock monkeys, I would include the oversized primate. It could be placed in a chair or in a corner. It is whimsical and fun, and it is a fantastic addition to a girl’s bedroom whether she is a child, a teen or an adult.

Add a Few Sock Monkey Pillows

When decorating a girl’s bedroom with sock monkeys, search online for pillows that match the theme. They are available in many different styles, sizes, colors and varieties. With the vast array of fabrics available, they would be very easy to make, especially the fleece variety. Fleece does not unravel like other fabrics, and the edges can be clipped to create ties. The fabric can be tied around the edges to create unique bedroom pillow covers.

Use Sock Monkeys as Creative Curtain Tie Backs

Use sock monkeys of average size for decorating a girl’s bedroom curtains. When hung on hooks alongside of the windows, the arms can be used as tiebacks. Attach Velcro squares to the paws of the monkeys and they will gently but effectively hold back the curtains.

Search for other bedroom accessories that fit the decorating theme. Everything from light switch covers to rugs can be found online, and they are covered with little sock monkeys. In any case, do not fill the bedroom with monkeys from one end to the next. As I always say, less is more when decorating in a specific theme. The theme should never completely overtake the space.
