Hulu.com offers a vast list of free videos, movies and TV shows from the most popular production studios such as NBC, ABC and Fox. All you need is a pc, internet access and a personal Hulu account. Nevertheless, a small pc monitor can easily kill the fun away leaving you wondering how to watch Hulu on your brand new huge Plasma TV. Here is the easy way to do it.
1. Connect Your PC to Your TV
Depending on your computer’s model and year of release, you will either need a VGA or HDMI cable. If you own both a new computer and a new Plasma or LCD TV, then the HDMI cable is the perfect choice featuring high definition video resolution and superb sound quality.
If you own a desktop, then it is highly suggested to measure the distance between your pc and TV so as to purchase the right length for the HDMI cable. HDMI cables come from 1.5 feet up to monster ones that are more than 10 feet long. On the other hand, if you own a laptop the choice is much easier and cheaper.
Connect one end of the HDMI cord to your pc and the other one to your TV. Turn on your TV and set its function to ‘HDMI’ port. If your TV supports more than one HDMI ports, then choose the one that you have your cable plugged-in. On your pc, right-click on your desktop and choose ‘Screen Resolution’. A new menu window will pop-up with various options such as ‘Display’, ‘Resolution’ and ‘Orientation’. Click on ‘Display’ and change it from ‘Mobile PC Display’ to ‘TV Display’. Once you click ‘Apply’, your pc monitor will go black and image will now be displayed straight from your TV.
If you are not happy with the resolution or the video is not displayed in full screen, then change it according to your TV’s screen resolution. If you are not sure, refer to the TV’s manual.
Once you are ready, visit Hulu.com, choose the episode or video you wish to watch and click ok. Now, sit back, relax and enjoy! When you are done, unplug the cable from your pc and image will automatically be displayed again from your pc’s monitor.
2. Connect Your PS3 to Your TV
If you are a proud owner of a PS3, then you can easily watch Hulu as the PS3 supports internet access. All you have to do is to visit Hulu’s official web page, log into your account, browse among the various videos and click view. That’s it!
Important tips
– If you have image but no sound, then visit the ‘Sound’ options menu on your pc and click on ‘Playback Devices’. From there, change the settings to ‘HDMI Output’ until you get sound from your TV speakers.
– Do not try to enhance the resolution more than your TV can handle. It may damage your TV.
