New Hampshire has a complicated set of statewide guidelines that must be used to create court orders for child support. These guidelines are more than just a simple mathematical formula. But because the guidelines must be followed, the state and some third parties have created NH child support calculators that can estimate future payments for New Hampshire children. Interested parents can access these calculators online and use them in the comfort of their own homes.

The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services is the state agency with the responsibility to run the NH child support program. That department can assist in certain areas, such as information about how to file a lawsuit for paternity and support. No matter what device you use, just be cognizant of the fact that a calculator may not consider all variables of your particular case. Therefore, it is only an estimate that may be different under a real court order.

Using the calculators is quite simple, but the hard part is gathering all of the information. For example, you need to know the income of the other party, whether he or she is paying child support to other children and other personal information. You may have to ask around this information. But if you can find accurate data, the NH child support calculators can give you a decent estimate of how much the obligor (paying parent) will owe in child support.

Warning: In cases of joint or split custody, the child support amount tabulated by a calculator may be reduced in real life. These situations can be quite complex, and this is why only a judge can make a final decision on New Hampshire child support after weighing all of the facts and circumstances of each case.
