How to Create a Photo Gallery in Microsoft FrontPage

Did you know that you can create a photo gallery in Microsoft FrontPage? It is very easy to create a gallery. In this tutorial I will show you how to quickly create a photo gallery of your pictures. These are great to show loved ones your most recent pictures. They can be used for many other things too. I will write this tutorial in detail, so even if you are new to Microsoft FrontPage you can create this photo gallery.

Open your Microsoft FrontPage program and we will get started. Create a blank page by pressing CTRL + N on your keyboard. That is the keyboard shortcut for creating a new page. You can also click File > New > Page. Go ahead and save your page before you start working. Click File > Save As and type the name of your page in the window that comes up. Then click the Save button.

Next, I will show you how to insert a background in your page. If you do not want to use a background, skip down to the next paragraph. Go to the top of your window and click Format > Background. The background window will pop up. You can use a solid color background or you can use a picture for your background. Click on the Background tab at the top of that box. If you want to use a picture, check the “Background Picture” box. Then click the Browse button and locate the picture on your computer that you want to use. Click the Open button once you have selected your picture. Then click the OK button on the background box. If you want to use a solid color background, drop the Background box down and select the color that you want and then click OK on that box.

You can type a title at the top of your window if you want too. Now we will insert the photo gallery. Go to the top of your FrontPage window and click Insert > Picture > New Photo Gallery. The Photo Gallery Properties window will pop up. Click on the Pictures Tab. Then click the Add button and select the pictures that you want to add. You can select them from your computer or from your camera.

Next, you can set the size of the thumbnail. I would leave the size as it is. FrontPage automatically makes the thumbnails for you. You can choose your font style, size, and color by clicking override and use custom font format. Next, you can type a caption and description for each picture. Just click on the picture in the window and go down to the caption and description field and type in what you want.

The last thing is choosing your layout for the gallery. Click on the Layout Tab at the top of the box. You have 4 layouts to choose from. Click through them to see which one you like. Then click the OK button. It may take a minute or so to load the pictures. It is according to how many pictures you are adding. Once it is finished you will see the pictures on your page.

That’s it. Just save your page and upload it. If you have any problems with this Microsoft FrontPage tutorial, please feel free to leave me a comment at the bottom of this page.
