How to Clean Marble Counter Tops

Marble is a beautiful and gorgeous stone, best suited for table tops, bathroom counters and floor tiles. It adds an atheistic charm to the house. Marble comes in various sizes and colors and is a luxurious beauty. Marbles require proper maintenance and improper care can lead to dull and etched countertops. Here are some tips and tricks on cleaning marble counter tops so that they continue to look charming for the rest of their life:

Tip 1: Always wipe marble counter tops with plenty of warm water and few drops of mild soap. Rinse the marble well, as soap may tend to leave residue on marble countertops. However, consistence use of soap may dull the marble. So clean the counter tops with soap only when ever required!

Tip 2: Select good brand of stone cleansers which are specially formulated for marbles. After using the cleansers, buff dry with a dry cotton cloth. Always remember to use soft cloth to wipe your marble counter tops. Excessive rubbing can leave scratches on the marble

Tip 3: I came across a great home made cleanser tip on the website www.ehow.com/how_4485683_cleanmarblecountertops.html. Combine 4 cups warm water with 3 tbsp. baking soda. Dip a soft cloth into the solution and wring out the excess. Wipe the solution on the marble countertop and allow it to remain for at least 2 hours, then wipe the countertop with clear water and dry it with a soft cloth.

Tip 4: Never use any acidic cleaners on marble counter tops. They can dull the polish on the surfaces and leave a stain. Do not use vinegar or lemon or ammonia on marble counter tops. These can also easily scratch the marble

Tip 5: Always clean any spills on the marble counter tops immediately. They can leave a stain if not taken care of immediately

Tip 6: Always use coasters for your glasses on marble counter tops. Stains can be tough to remove from marble.

Tip 7: Do not set any hot items directly on marble counter tops. The marble would lose its shine under the heat and may also break or crack due to the heat. Always set hot items on a pot holder or folded cloth.

Tip 8: Do not sit or stand on the marble counter tops as they are not as flexible as wood. Also do not place your toiletry products directly on the marble counter tops in bathroom. The chemicals in the products can seep from the bottles on to marble and damage it if not cleaned immediately.

Follow these tips and tricks and some extra precaution on caring for your marble counter tops and see how they continue to light up the rooms, for a long long time.
