Holiday Party Ideas for Your Work

Have you ever been the unlucky victim of the office to host your companies annual holiday party? It may have been Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween or simply the bosses’ birthday. As you know this puts enormous stress on you to do the best you can to impress your fellow colleagues and boss. Before planning your party you must consider the following:

· If you have been assigned to host the event, create a committee and ask what they want. You or your Committee may want to set up a suggestion box to help you come up with great ideas.

· Based on budget, decide if this is an employee only, employee & guest or employee family event.

· Budgets? With the economic crisis ripping apart our finances you must be careful not to blow your budgets, you can always use the home brand items instead of the fancy dinner meals to impress your guests.

· Ask your workmates if they will help and throw in some money to help make the event that much better. Maybe they could buy the alcoholic beverages or pitch in for decorations. Because you are the one having to organise and run the event.

·), Casino, Museums, Art Gallery, Indoor Ice Rink, Cruiser (Lake or Ocean), SportsPlex or Sporting Event

· Set the date, place and time months before the event to make sure things go to plan and you don’t get midway cancellations.

· Once the date, time and place are set then send out invitations at least four weeks

· In advance. Send out reminder emails or Post flyers on boards. Request RSVP’s to

· Attend; this will help with your counts if using a caterer. You can always count on

· A few that doesn’t and still show up. Make sure employees that work off-site are also notified.

Make sure your business is legally safe if you are providing alcoholic beverages to your guest. Many states have “social hosts” laws which under certain circumstances your business can be held liable for injuries or deaths caused in an accident of an intoxicated employee served at your party. Check your state laws or consult with your business lawyers. Offer alternative transportation like taxis or designated drivers and follow through on it as you don’t wan fellow employers having their license suspended.

Arrange a local middle or high school band to play at the party. Ask a school or church

· Choir to sing holiday tunes. Or you may just have some musically talented staff members who are willing to put on a show.

·. One tip, give something festive not company logo products.
