Have You Seen “House Hunters on Vacation?”

Some of us are so addicted to the HGTV “House Hunters” shows, both domestic and international, that we even sit through reruns. Now, we have another entry in the series: “House Hunters on Vacation.”

This show is a little different from the usual HH shows. No one is buying anything. Families apply to appear on the show, and are chosen to travel to exotic vacation locations and tour three fabulous rentals. The family then chooses the home they would like to stay in for one week, and House Hunters pays the bill. What a great deal, how do we apply?

Taniya Nayak is the host who meets the families and guides them through the viewing process. The stars of this show, however, are the homes on display. Some of them rent for as much as $25,000 per week. They have million dollar views, and amenities that most ordinary families will never experience. Yes, this is a peek at how the other half lives….or maybe the other 1%!

Until the trip starts, the families do not know where they are going. Recent episodes featured trips to Maui and Key West. The beach houses in Maui were large and stunning, with views from all angles. In Key West, the homes reflected the unique character of the location. One home was an artist’s retreat, and the most unusual choice offered was a fully equipped yacht, with a hot tub and private beach. The family actually chose the yacht, which even came with a personal chef! (Great choice, as long as you aren’t prone to seasickness! Give me a house on land!)

There is no financial angle to this show, as the families do not have to do the math and figure out if they can afford the homes. That’s what makes this show totally light fluff—perfect for Summer viewing. If you love looking at beautiful homes in incredible, tropical locations, try “House Hunters on Vacation.” It airs on Monday nights at 8:30 Eastern, with rebroadcasts throughout the week.
