Haunted Places in Maryland

Do you live in Maryland or visit frequently? Have you heard some of the legends or stories that go around the various areas? There are a few areas in Maryland that are believed to be haunted, and they all have stories to go with them. Some people may not believe the stories or legends that have been told. Other people like to read up on these stories and visit them, just for the experience, thrill, or scare.

Here are three locations in Maryland that are believed to be haunted. If you decide to check out any haunted places in Maryland, please remember to do so with caution. You should use common sense and obey the law. You do not want to get hurt because the location was unsafe, nor do you want to get arrested for trespassing.

Cry Baby Bridge.
The Cry Baby Bridge has a few stories to it:
1. The suicide of an unwed mother due to an unwanted pregnancy.
2. A seventeen-year-old girl who threw herself and her baby off of the bridge after her boyfriend refused to help her and her father became angry over her having baby that he berated her.
3. The father or boyfriend kills the unwed mother and her baby.

Regardless of which legend you believe, there have been stories that if you go to Cry Baby Bridge on a dark and cool night, you can hear the cries of a baby. This is the crying of the infant’s ghost.

The Cry Baby Bridge in Maryland seems to have two locations. One is in Prince Georges Count and the other is in Saint Mary’s County.

Hell House.
Hell House is actually St. Mary’s College and it has a few stories to it. One story is that the college was a seminary for young boys. Another story is that a crazy priest who taught at the school hung five girls over a pentacle and then killed himself. Some say there was a fire at the school and it burned down.

The school did in fact open seminary for boys, and it did burn down. In addition, the number of students in the graduating class had reduced. Therefore, the school remained closed.

However, with the legends and truth out there, there are still some who say you can hear the voices of the five girls today. There are many who say there is a cold spot at the at the top or under the stairs that lead up to Hell House.

Seven Hills Road.
Seven Hills Road is actually a road street called College Avenue in Ellicott City, Maryland. But there really are seven hills on the road. There have been quite a few people who say if you hit the seventh road at exactly midnight, a black pick-up truck will appear and begin to chase you. It seems as though the truck will only chase you as far as the intersection, and does not leave Seven Hills Road.

However, whether or not you believe this legend, there is a warning you MUST follow. You MUST be careful and do NOT speed on this road. Speeding on Seven Hills Road or driving too close to anyone else who is speeding on this road could indeed cause a car accident. So please be careful, even in the daytime.

Some people may believe the haunted stories while others may think the stories are nothing more than people who are exaggerating. Then there are others who do not know what to believe. Whether or not you feel there are haunted places in Maryland depend on you, your beliefs, and your own experiences.

As mentioned earlier, always remember to use common sense, be careful, and do not break any laws if you are visiting and checking out any haunted places in Maryland.
