Guide to Columbus, Ohio, Haunted Houses

The center of Ohio is the center of terror with haunted houses and spine chilling experiences spooking people throughout Columbus and Mansfield.

Terror Park

Cooper Stadium, home to minor league baseball’s Columbus Clippers, turns haunted for its eighth Halloween season. Gates fill the stadium as guests wander through different terrifying scenes ranging from demented clowns to creepy rats, vampires, and more.

Flashlight tours are available upon request, for younger children and those afraid of the dark. Terror Park also offers a complimentary “Scare Free” section, monitored by a Police Officer, for children who are too frightened to continue while on the haunted tour.

Terror Park will be open every weekend in October 2007. Weekend dates are: Friday and Saturday October 5 and 6, 12 and 13; Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, October 18, 19, and 20, and 25, 26, and 27.

Thursday nights Terror Park is open from 7:30pm to 10pm. Friday and Saturday nights Terror Park is open from 7:30pm until midnight.

Admission is $13 and parking costs $3. A $2 off coupon is available on the Terror Park website. A $20 VIP Speedpass can be purchased for those looking to beat the lines.

The Haunted Ship

The Santa Maria in Columbus, Ohio is the most authentic replica in the world of a Christopher Columbus ship. Each Halloween the ship turns haunted with rats, spiders, and creepy creatures scaring families.

The Haunted Ship will be open October 25, 26, and 27, 2007 from 7 to 10pm.

Admission is $5 for adults, $2.50 for children 5 to 17, and $4.50 for seniors.

The Experience

The Experience is more than a haunted house; it’s a haunting storyline based on a local legend about a girl who disappeared with new information divulged to visitors each year. Actors perform the scary tale with subtle levels of terror all around, from the start to the finish of this creepy tour. In 2007 The Experience is in a new location, in an old boarding school near the Lennox Towncenter in Columbus.

The Experience will run Fridays and Saturdays, from Saturday September 22 through Halloween, including October 28 through October 31.

The Experience opens at 6:30pm nightly and runs through midnight.

Tickets can be purchased for $10 online or for $12 at the gate.

House of Nightmares
477 South Front Street

The House of Nightmares moved from Mount Vernon to The Brewery District in downtown Columbus and is now located behind the building at 477 South Front Street.

A matinee show for children will be offered on Sunday, October 21 from 1 to 3pm with children 10 and under encouraged to dress up in costumes.

Open dates are Fridays and Saturdays September 28 to October 12; Thursdays through Sundays, 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27, 28; and on Halloween, Wednesday October 31, 2007.

Hours are Fridays and Saturdays from 7pm until midnight; Sundays and certain weekdays from 7pm to 11pm.

Admission costs $15 while children 10 and under cost $8. VIP passes are available for $20. A $5 off coupon for selected nights is available from the haunted house website.

Haunted Prison Experience
100 Reformatory Road
Mansfield, Ohio 44905

The movie The Shawshank Redemption, based on a Stephen King story, was filmed at this terrifying prison. The 2007 Haunted Prison Experience Theme is “The Night ‘They’ Came Home.” Visitors are led on an interactive walk through the creepy prison, into the basement and in cell blocks with special effects adding to the fear.

The Haunted Prison Experience is open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from September 28 to October 31, 2007.

Hours are as follows: Thursdays and Halloween 7 to 11pm; Fridays and Saturdays 7 to midnight; Sundays 7 to 10pm.

Admission costs $15 and guests must be 13 or older to experience this extremely frightening haunted house.

Undead Haunted Experience

Mansfield, Ohio 44906

Six miles north of The Haunted Prison Experience, inside an old Lazarus store at the Richland Mall, is the Undead Haunted Experience. This gory, interactive haunted attraction features mutants and zombies.

The Undead Experience is open every Thursday through Sunday, beginning on Friday, September 28 through October 31, 2007.

Open hours are from 7 to 11pm on Thursday; 7 to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays; 7 to 10pm on Sundays; and 7 to 11pm on Halloween Wednesday.

Admission is $12 and tickets can be purchased online.
