Great Nostalgic Gift Ideas: Memory Books, Candy and More

Sometimes all it takes to get a touch of nostalgia is seeing something as simple as a candy bar. It can be fun to take a trip to the past by seeing, eating, doing, or remembering things from the past. Here are some great gift ideas that are sure to spark a bit of nostalgia for your gift recipient.

Magazines You can often find collectible magazines for sale on places like eBay. You can find magazines such as Time, Life, or the Rolling Stones available for bidding on. The costs of these magazines will be based on condition and popularity.

Candy You can find many vintage candies for sale through special online candy stores. One such online store is called O’Ryans Village. You can find candies from the 50’s through the 70’s on this site. Or you can visit CandyFavorites.com to purchase discontinued candy.

Toys You can find vintage toys which are sure to spark memories of childhood for your gift recipient. Vintage toys can be plentiful on sites such as eBay. Or you could visit a site such as Mom&PopToys.com;. Vintage toys can make a great gift for a toy collector or for someone who is a kid at heart. Vintage toys can often be pricey, depending upon their collector’s value. If you are on a tighter budget you could always search store shelves for reproductions of the classic toys. Another idea would be to buy your gift recipient an eBay gift card and include a list of links to seller’s stores that sell vintage toys that may be of interest to them.

Cartoons or T.V. Shows You can find many cartoon or television shows that are available for purchase as DVD sets. Some popular television shows that are available include Sanford & Son, Twilight Zone, and Tour of Duty. Old Popeye, Yogi Bear, and Mickey Mouse cartoons can also be found for sale on DVD.

Memory Book You can create a memory book using old photos. This gift idea would be great for your parents or other family members whose photos you can gain access to. You can take the photos to a photo printing shop to have them reprinted to be used in the book. Ask other family members about the photos if you don’t know the story behind them. Create a scrapbook or memory book of these photos including descriptions about them. If the family member also has other memorabilia you could possibly photocopy them to include in your memory book. Items like newspaper clippings, yearbook signatures, ticket stubs, and more can make great additions to your memory book.

DVD Tribute Using your camcorder you can record different family members and friends talking about a specific friend or family member. They can share stories from their past, funny sayings or incidents, etc. for you to record with your camcorder. If you have an old VHS or tape camcorder then you can take it to your local photo printing store to have it converted to DVD format. Your DVD tribute is sure to evoke laughter and possibly happy tears from the recipient.

Nostalgic gifts can be fun and allow for the recipient to take a trip to the past without a time machine. These nostalgic gift ideas can also be perfect for the hard to shop for person on your list.
