Garmin Navus GPS Vs. Garmin Nuvi 775T

The Navus navigations system from Garmin is generally found as an option when purchasing a Jeep, Dodge, or Chrysler vehicle. The high end Navus navigation system can run anywhere from $600-$900 depending on the dealership and negotiated price. The nuvi 775T also from Garmin is a high end portable car GPS from Garmin that has many advanced features including lane assist. This article is going to take a look at the pros and cons of both the Navus GPS system and the nuvi 775T. Both units are from Garmin and similarly priced.

Navus GPS Navigation System

Pros:

At a price range of $600-$900 the Garmin Navus navigation system is an inexpensive choice for Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler owners in comparison to other built in systems. The Navus GPS system offers one of the best mapping abilities for the price range with ranges in North America. The interface is a bright easy to read screen with turn by turn voice directions. The mapping software is very accurate and will not disappoint (as long as it is up to date). Using the Navus is very simple has a very small learning curve.

Cons:

With the prices of portable car GPS units significantly lower, the Navus is an expensive alternative to the competition. The Navus has had some problems with reliability; it does malfunction or break down from time to time. Updating the Navus costs about $299 for a full updated map of North America, this is slightly more expensive than other GPS units.

Garmin nuvi 775T

Pros:

The Garmin nuvi 775T is the top of the line portable car GPS system from Garmin that features some of the most user friendly features on a GPS system. The nuvi 775T features lane change directions (so you don’t miss a turn), Bluetooth capable for hands free calling, wide 4.3″ color screen, MP3 player, and more. The nuvi is reasonably priced at $550 and is also portable, which means that you don’t have to limit your navigation system to one vehicle.

Cons:

The Garmin nuvi 775T is not a built in system, which means it has to be mounted on a windshield for best results. Priced at $550 the nuvi 775T is priced slightly high for a portable car GPS system in comparison to the competition.

Overall:

Overall both GPS units have their pros and cons; both units are from Garmin and offer top of the line in navigation. The Navus is built in which makes it more attractive, but you cannot take it with you in multiple vehicles. At a lower price, the nuvi 775T is a great all-in-one device that is top of the line in GPS navigation, and is more user friendly than the Navus. Overall both GPS units are very different from one another; if you plan on just having one vehicle then the Navus is better, but if you have multiple vehicles the nuvi 775T is best.
