Fun Facts About Harry Potter Character Dumbledore

One of the most loved characters from the Harry Potter series is Dumbledore. Dumbledore did everything he could to protect Harry Potter and to teach him everything he knew. Dumbledore may be gone, but he will live in the hearts of his fans forever. Throughout the Harry Potter series we learned several fun facts about this character. In memory of this legend, let’s look back on some of the accomplishments that Dumbledore achieved as well as some little known facts.

His full name was actually Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. Having such a long name came in handy when Harry and Hermione had to save Sirius and Buckbeak. Regardless, he was mostly known throughout the series as simply Dumbledore.

When Dumbledore died in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, his approximate age was 150. You have to remember, wizards age differently than Muggles. It’s not uncommon for wizards to live this many years.

One of Dumbedore’s greatest achievements was discovering the 12 uses for dragon’s blood. Of course, these 12 uses have not been listed in the books, other than it makes a great oven cleaner. Also it is uncertain when Dumbledore achieved this task. Readers don’t even know how he was able to acquire the blood.

This first time this Harry Potter character is mentioned is in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone chapter 1. Dumbledore appears on Privet Drive to assist McGonagall with leaving Harry Potter with his aunt and uncle.

Fun Facts about Harry Potter Character Dumbledore: Map of the London Underground Above His Knee

Another fun fact about this Harry Potter character is that he has a map of the London Underground above his knee. This would have to be handy on those occasions when you find yourself lost out in the Muggle world.

Fun Facts about Harry Potter Character Dumbledore: Became Headmaster Around 1970

Dumbledore became the Headmaster of Hogwarts around 1970. He remained in this position until his passing over 25 years later. There are of course occasions when he wasn’t at Hogwarts. He was twice removed from the school in the books Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
