When it comes to selling your old records, there are literally millions of resources on the internet. Everything from identifying the potentially valuable records to actually selling the record to buyers, it can all be done online. But what about the other side? What if you want to be the one buying records? Believe it or not, there are actually a lot of people out there who are interested in collecting records, even after all these years! The Dealer
Obviously it is a good idea to have some clue as to who the dealer is, or at least how good their reputation is, yet another reason why eBay is amazing! If you can’t find what you’re looking for on eBay, there are many other independent websites that you could buy through, just be sure to ask around message boards and to make sure your particular dealer is legit. If you are a dealer (or want to sell your collection) make sure to keep your reputation strong to keep selling!

Expensive Records
Unlike many other items purchased online, there isn’t much difference between genuine and fake records, so be careful when buying limited edition and other expensive records. One way to prevent fraud is to speak with the dealer over the phone before the transaction. Also, ask the dealer to play it over the phone or even send a video of them playing it if possible. Also, be sure to pay by credit card so if possible so you have recourse in case something goes wrong.

Insurance Never Hurts
Be sure to get shipping insurance on any record shipments, ad they are an unusual shape, and easy to break. Typically, the dealer will not pay for the insurance, but it is worth the extra money to be sure you aren’t out the whole cost if it breaks in transit.

Selling your records: is it easy?
The sale of LP records reached an all-time high around the year 2000. This trend has declined in the past few years, but don’t feel like you won’t be able to get anything for them! It is very possible to get at least something for almost every record, within reasonable expectations. It is reasonable to expect $5.00 USD per record, in good condition. However, there are many collectibles that are worth $100’s, and you could have some in your house right now!

If you just want to get rid of your old records and make some money doing it, take them online first, and try to sell the rest off to a physical store in your area after.
