Dermablend Cover Creme

There are many full cover foundations on today’s market that promise to hide scars and imperfections. Some are grocery brands and some department store brands, and some must be special ordered. The claims of products, as well as the usefulness, can get confusing. Also, while many of the “full coverage” products on the market offer a fair amount of coverage, the oil they contain can wreak havoc on the skin, especially if the wearer has sensitive skin, as this reviewer does.

Dermablend is a cosmetic line devoted to covering imperfections. They claim to cover all manner of imperfections; including but not limited to scars, red spots, uneven skin tone, blemishes, and Rosacea. Dermablend has two foundations for covering facial imperfections. The Smooth Indulgence Foundation offers mild to moderate coverage, and comes in a tube. The Cover Creme foundation, which comes in a pot, is for moderate to severe coverage.

According to the Dermablend website (www.dermablend.com), “Cover Creme delivers a flawless complexion and 12 hours of continuous color wear”. It goes on to state that the product delivers hydration that lasts all day, applies smoothly, skin that feels soft. There are also twenty one different shades of Cover Creme. As a person with some facial scaring, as well as sensitive skin, this reviewer decided to try the Cover Creme product and see if the foundation held up to the claim.

Dermablend comes in a box containing the pot of foundation, and a small spatula that Dermablend provides for the purpose of product application. Upon opening the pot of Dermablend, it is immediately apparent that there are no odors to this product. No perfumes have been added, as some foundation companies will do. Next, the reviewer examined the foundation with her fingertips. (Note: This is not something that should normally be done with foundation, especially for those with sensitive skin, as the oils from the fingertips can contaminate the foundation, and cause breakouts). The foundation was soft and creamy to the touch, and not oily or greasy. Many pot or compact foundations feel oily or greasy to the touch, and those oils can cause pores and cause irritation and breakouts.

Dermablend recommends applying Cover Creme with the spatula that they provide, but this reviewer applied the product with a triangle cosmetic wedge obtained from the grocery store. The foundation spread on evenly and smoothly. Also, the foundation did not feel heavy on the sponge, nor did it change the texture of the sponge. If a foundation feels heavy or caked on when it is on the sponge, it will probably feel the same on your face. The foundation lasted most of the day with minimal touching up, and never felt runny, even after some sweating in the sun. It also offered fantastic coverage for everything that this reviewer wanted to cover. It lived up to its claims.

Another benefit to this foundation is that it offers an SPF of thirty. Doctors and skin care consultants alike will always recommend choosing a foundation that offers sun protection. Many foundations offer an SPF of only 15 or 20. Cover Creme offers an SPF of 30. While the extra SPF isn’t necessary, the extra sun protection is advantageous to have. The more protection on the skin, the lesser the risk for sun related skin damage and skin cancer.

This is a product that this reviewer would recommend and share with friends and family. It covers imperfections, stays on, and does not cause break outs. To order Cover Creme directly from Dermablend, visit www.dermablend.com. For faster purchasing, look on Dermablend’s website for a list of local stores that carry the product. The price tag of $34 may seem steep for a foundation at first, but Cover Creme is worth the money. It lives up to the claims, and will help you put your best face forward.
