Craft Projects for Good Friday

The Praying Hands is a great teaching symbol that is also a super easy Good Friday craft project theme. These projects are for almost every age group, however the older children will probably put more thought into them while the younger children will be thrilled with the crafting itself.

The Praying Hands mobile is a great craft item to make for above the bed. This Good Friday project requires plain white paper, scissors, string, a small butter bowl lid and a marker. To make the praying hands symbol, simply lay your hand down flat with the fingers and thumb slightly apart on a piece of paper and draw around outline around it. If this project is being done with a small child use your hand instead. Cut around the outline. Make three of these handprints. Write on each handprint things that the child is thankful for and people that they want God to bless. Cut the middle out of the butter bowl lid to form a ring. Punch a small hole in each handprint and tie a 2 foot piece of string to each. Then tie the strings to the butter bowl lid ring. Tie two more strings to the lid and attach to the ceiling with a tack or tape. Try to keep the kids focused on the theme of Good Friday.

The Praying Hands place mat is a useful craft idea because the Good Friday mat can be used for day to day activities. Items needed is large sheets of paper or paperboard, markers, pictures, stickers, ribbons or whatever you have on hand for decorating, and a roll of clear Contact Paper. Draw the Praying Hands symbol as many times and in whatever position you wish. Some great ideas for what to write is a small prayer, what you think God has done for you, and small Bible verses that relate to Good Friday or blessings. Decorate the hands or the areas around them. When this part is done, place sheets of the clear Contact Paper on both sides, making sure to cover all edges.

The Praying Hands light switch cover is a craft that can be displayed in any room of the house. This Good Friday craft project needs one light plate cover, plain paper, paint or markers, glue and contact paper. While this craft is for any age, only an adult should replace the light switch cover. Draw the Praying Hand symbol on paper and cut out. If the child’s hand is too small, then use an adult’s hand or just leave extra room when drawing around a child’s hand. Put the light switch cover on the hand and mark where the hole is. Decorate the hand however you wish then cover the front and back with clear Contact Paper. Cut out the hole and glue the hand to the light switch cover.

Hope these Good Friday craft ideas give you hours of enjoyment.
