Converse Chuck Taylor Shoes – The Colors

When one sets out to buy a pair of Chuck Taylor All Star shoes, they might be very surprised and even get a bit lost in the selection that’s available. To narrow down the subject of Chuck Taylor Colors a bit, here is some info on what “basic”, or standard colors are available.

The most in-demand color for Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars – Black – This is the first color produced over 80 years ago. Black also seems to have the most variety of styles, including Hi and Lo Tops, Leather, the “Doubles” (Double Uppers and Double Tongues) as well as some new and popular styles such as “Sailor Jerry” for those who like to have a bit of an edge with their color and style of casual shoes.

Coming in second in popularity is the color white. From the whites, there are two variations, “Unbleached White” – a sort of white with a tinge of light beige and “Optical White” which is practically as white as you can get.

Red and Blue Converse Chuck Taylors come in next – for Red, there is a standard red color, but there is also a darker more “burgundy” red available as well. The blues have three shades – Navy (darkest), Royal and Carolina or “Baby Blue”.

And – for us ladies who like a feminine touch with their “Chucks”, there is of course, Pink. There are a couple of shades of pink available – a darker and a lighter version.

In the last few years another color has hit the rankings in the most called-for colors for Chuck Taylors, that is Chocolate or Dark Brown.

Then of course there are other basic colors available that have been consistently on the shelves (and in closets) such as Green, Yellow and Orange to name a few.

Every year, a new series of colors are made available in the Converse Chuck Taylor lineup called the “Seasonal” colors. This varies from year to year but there are some interesting and fun colors that have become more popular in this series than others such as Purple, Neon Orange and Buttercup Yellow. (I look forward to seeing what will be released for the Seasonal Colors in 2009.)

All of these colors are available with the Classic Converse Chuck Taylor All Star shoes – the shoes we all know and love with canvas uppers, flexible rubber soles and the tie-up laces in both Hi Top and Lo Top Styles.

Now – the above gives you an idea of what can be had just from the basics. Imagine what colors are available with some new and funky prints that hit the shelves in 2008 (and there are sure to be more coming for 2009)!
