Comedy Clubs in Atlanta Georgia

When you’re looking for something different to do for a night on the town, think about hitting one of Atlanta, Georgia’s comedy clubs.

Belly up to the bar and get ready for some belly laughs at these stand-up comedy and improv comedy clubs. You’ve probably heard of bigger name comedy clubs such as The Punchline and Funny Farm , but these smaller clubs offer something a little different. For a unique experience, skip the bigger comedy clubs and give one of these smaller venues a shot.

Please note that these clubs are 18 and Up and will most likely require and ID.

Take cash, as some of the clubs do not accept cards. There are plenty of ATMs around in case you forget to grab cash before you go.

Be sure to call or visit their sites for the most up-to-date information on current stand-up comics , show times, and other information.

Comedy Clubs, Stand-Up Comedy and Improv Theaters in Atlanta GA

Laughing Skull Lounge
‎878 Peachtree Street Northeast
Atlanta, GA 30309
877-523-3288‎

With cozy stadium seating and only 74 seats, it’s easy to get up close and personal to the laughs in this comedy club. Creative Loafing Atlanta voted this tiny venue “Best Comedy Club In Atlanta” for 2009, and it has earned its reputation considering it’s pretty new on the comedy scene.

Don’t let the small size of this Atlanta comedy club fool you — the laughs are big, and this club draws some big names in stand-up comedy. The size of this comedy club is a definite plus for the shows, and adds to the intimate feel. The seats are comfortable, the shows are hip and smart, and there isn’t a bad seat in the house.

The Laughing Skull is located in the back of The Vortex (an Atlanta staple, know for having the best burgers in Atlanta). No food is sold during show, but you can eat at The Vortex before or after the show, or hit one of the many other diners and restaurants within walking distance.

There is a two-item minimum at the lounge. Ticket prices vary, but fall with the $15-23 range.

The Basement Theatre

175 West Wieuca RD NE
Atlanta GA 30342
404-277-3071

Take a group of owners and actors who are in it to have as much fun as the audience, add an audience who not only loves to participate, but who is also often as funny as the comedians, and let hilarity ensue. This place is fun, fun, fun.

Everyone is friendly, from the crew to the audience, and it’s really hard to find comedy this funny for this cheap.

Ticket prices range from $5 for students to $10 for everyone else.

Call ahead to find out about the show, since they vary from stand-up improv comedy to Mystery Science Theater 3K meets Rocky Horror Picture Show, and even family comedy nights.

The Basement Theatre does have a small bar, but you can also bring your own drinks. Eat first — no dinner is served, but they do have some pretty good snacks.

Dad’s Garage
280 Elizabeth Street, Suite C-101
Atlanta GA 30307
404-523-3141 (ext 201 for the box office)

One of Atlanta’s best kept secrets, the improv club Dad’s Garage is not your parents’ comedy. Hip, witty, shotgun-sharp humor will either fly right over your head, or more than likely catch you in the gut and double you over with laughter.

Creative Loafing voted them “Best Theatre Company and Improv Group” for the last five years, and they’ve earned the honor.

This comedy club has grown over the years, and is one of the most creative and innovative comedy clubs in Atlanta.

Reservations are encouraged, but tickets can be purchased at the door. Ticket prices vary depending on the show and time, so call ahead or check out the site.

(At my own last attendance, Dad’s offered a selection of beer, so call ahead to find out the situation if you want to enjoy an adult beverage with you laughter.)

Smaller Comedy Clubs = Big Laughs

There’s no shortage of comedy clubs in Atlanta, GA, but these three offer unique and smart shows that will draw you in, make you laugh, and leave you addicted and wanting more.
