Collectibles for the Elephant Lover

Elephants are amazing and intelligent creatures. It is no wonder so many people are fascinated by these gentle giants. Collectibles for an elephant lover are easy to find and in a myriad of prices. Entire homes can be decorated with elephant collectibles with everything from statues, wall shelves, pictures, tapestries, fabrics and so much more. The one thing to never get a true elephant lover is anything made from authentic ivory. Those who have elephant collectibles do so because of their love for the animal. They certainly want no part of the reason these majestic creatures have been slaughtered to near extinction

The price for elephant collectibles is basically whatever you wish to spend. There are rare antiques to very inexpensive mass-produced pieces for the elephant lover. The collectible’s worth usually isn’t important to someone who just wants reminders of the elephant’s beauty instead of the price of their collectibles. One of the easiest things to find for the elephant lover is a figurine. These can be found in just about every material imaginable and unless it’s an antique the price will be nominal. A beautiful elephant sculpture is available at Design Toscano which has historical reproductions for the home and garden. This sculpture is titled, “Anjan the Elephant” and is in the style described as traditional “jali” fretwork from British Colonial India. The intricate cut-out scroll work is similar to patterns used in India’s palaces and give this elephant a rich look for very little money. The prices for collectibles such as this are kept affordable by using resin. The elephant lover can add this to their collection for just under $30.00. The sculpture measures 12.5″ from trunk to tail, 5.5″ wide and 10″ tall.

Another gorgeous sculpture for the elephant lover is at Lenox and their collectibles are well known for being done in fine china and will naturally cost more. This Lenox ivory china elephant is accented with 24 karat gold and the cost is $95.00. The artist for this elephant sculpture is Parvaneh Holloway with this ‘Prince of the Palace” having raised relief design for the ornate fabric pattern draping the elephant. This petite china elephant is just under 7″ tall.

This ceramic urn is a way to add to the elephant lover’s collectibles without adding another figurine. The “Abuja: Elephants” urn is available at Design Toscano for $35.00 and stands 22″ tall and 11″ in diameter at the widest part. It has a long slender neck and raised relief elephant designs circling the urn with each elephant’s trunk holding the next elephant’s tail. The kiln-fired earthenware ceramic is by the artist Abiodun Okulaja from Nigeria. This is a piece any elephant lover will be proud to add to their collectibles.

Another beautiful item to adorn the elephant lovers’ home is a sculptural wall shelf. This resin shelf is lightweight enough for easy hanging, but has the realistic look of walnut wood. The shelf is a bracket-style sconce and can found at Design Toscano for just under $30.00. This website offers a special price if these are bought in pairs. The price then is just under $20.00 for each for these collectibles. The elephant has an exotic and elegant look in deep brown with the beautiful tusks in white.

This is a most unique photograph album featuring an elephant on the front of the cover. This album is a work of art made with Waru leaves, bean pods and bamboo paper. It is available at Gift Velocity for $35.00 and would make a wonderful gift for the elephant lover. This photo album has enough room for eighty 4″ x 6″ photos. The photos are held in place on the pages under raffia corners. The last item I am going to highlight is a useful and inexpensive calendar for the new year. This is a National Geographic Wall Calendar and it features beautiful photographs of elephants. The calendar is only $12.99 at Barnes and Noble Bookstore and would be a wonderful way for the elephant collector to incorporate beautiful pictures of these extraordinary animals into their lives in an ordinary way.
