Coca Cola Themed Solar Lamp

Have you wanted to make your very own custom lamp, but thought it would be too expensive? I have an easy to follow do it yourself project that will turn your old Coca Cola cans into a work of art while also saving you a lot of money in the long run with built in solar LEDs that require no outlet to run.

Materials for this project

*Aluminum Coca Cola cans

*Rubber

*Rubber cement

*Silicone rubber

*Solar LED lights

*Paper clips

*Lamp shade

*Glass coca cola bottle

*Metal sheers

*Dremel

*Fine sandpaper

Building your Coca Cola lamp base

To start this project you will need to decide how wide you want your lamp base to be. Once you have determined the size of your base, use your metal sheers to cut the top off of a few Coca Cola cans and cut them down the middle, spreading and flattening them out. Join the flat pieces together with the help of silicone rubber and allow them to dry. Draw a circle the diameter of your lamp base onto a piece of paper and lay it onto of the flattened cans, adding to them until you have enough surface area to cut the circle out. Cut around the circle with the Dremel and sand off any sharp edges using the sandpaper. Cut a circle of the same size from your rubber to act as the bottom of your solar lamp. Place the Coca Cola circle onto the rubber circle using rubber cement and allow it to dry for twenty four hours before continuing. Once the base has dried, attach one tin can to the base of the lamp with silicone rubber, adding another above it and lining the edges of its bottom with silicone rubber. Place a small glass Coca Cola bottle onto the top of both cans and attach it using rubber cement and then lining its edges with silicone rubber. Allow the base to dry four twenty four hours before continuing. You can use as many cans as you like and whatever size glass Coca Cola bottle you like, it all depends on the overall height you want your solar lamp to be.

Installing your solar lighting

Begin by measuring the total length of your lamp shade. Once you have the length, bend a few large paper clips to line the inside of your lamp shade, bending them until they are completely straight. If your paper clips are not long enough, cut a few others to fit into the remaining space and attach them with silicone rubber, leaving an inch in between each placed paperclip inside the lampshade. Once the paper clips have dried, attach the ends of the solar LEDs to them with silicone rubber and allow them to dry. Place your lamp shade over the glass Coca Cola bottle and reattach its tin cap to complete the project.
