Childhood Milestones from Newborn to Teenager

The milestones from newborn to teenager years

When having a baby we as parents are overwhelmed, excited and are blessed. As we raise this baby we also capture their milestones. Milestones are a part of life that happens when babies do something new or a part of development.

Some of them are:
Rolling over
New teeth coming in
First steps
First words
Crawling
First time tieing their shoes
Learning to feed themselves
First time cutting their hair

These moments happen so fast so journal them and make a scrapbook. You can make a baby’s first scrapbook years. Make a family book scrapbook or events and birthdays too. Scrapbook’s can be so much fun to make. They have many craft stores so head to one now.

Take alot of pictures, professionally or with your own camera. They will grow up so fast in front of your eyes. By taking pictures you can see them grow page by page. Get their first picture taken with the easter bunny, santa claus, or with their favorite stuffed animal.

The most important memory you will have with your child are birthdays, holidays, family vacations, and family events.

Newborn babies love to be held and kissed. The best toy to introduce them to is a black and white mobile. The can see a little up close.

When babies begin to roll they are about 2-4 months old. They will roll from back to side or stomach to back. They learn this first. Their favorite place to be is in a swing or a bouncer. They love to be cradled. Play soft music they love it.

When babies begin to crawl they are 6-8 months old. They will start off lifting the knee. Little by little they will get faster. They grab onto furniture to stand. This is the best time to child proof the house. They are going to get into everything.

Here are some things you will need to childproof:
kitchen draws, cabinets, toilet, stoves, electricity outlets and anything in your home that can be a dangerous to a child. You can put a latch on the toilet, knobs on stove, and gates on the doors. You don’t want them to get hurt. Make sure to put a gate whereever there is a staircase in your home.

Their favorite toy at this age is the walker. This is the best time for them to use one. They babble alot at this age and are getting ready to walk and talk.

When babies begin to walk they are about 10-15 mths old. They should wear a pair of white botties to help support their feet. They balance better with them. Make sure any sharp corners on tables, or any piece of furniture are covered. They can get hurt faster now that they can walk.

The best toy for them at this age is books, blocks, teaching toys, and music.

Now that you have watched you newborn go from sitting in the bassinet to getting up and running around, you should never take your eyes off them.

There are many more milestones to watch you baby go through such as:
potty training
first day of preschool
drawing pictures
making new friends
first day of elementary school
graduation
first sleepovers

After they have grown up to their teenager years you will now see them bloom. They are grown up and are ready to be independent children. Teenagers have their own way of exploring. They do not want to play with toys anymore. They are not so little.

Now they want “big kid” toys such as:
Playstation
New bike
License
Car
Pc
Money

They need alot so whether you have one job or two they will always be emptying out your wallet.
Teenagers love to have family time and need it. These are the years they find the wrong friends. Some kids are peerpressured into the wrong kinda fun, sex, and drugs. The most important thing for a teenager is to bond with their parents and trust each other. It is a known fact that if you know and spend time with your child at least 2 hours a day that your child will turn out to be a good kid. If you have a 9-5 job and your busy with dinner, cleaning and kids it can be hard. If you can find at least homework time to do together that your child will know you care about their grades. Many teenages do things to impress friends and family. You can only ask for them to do better. No kid is perfect.

Here are some tips on raising a good kid:
Set boundries
Set a curfew time
Trust them to a point
Have family night out
Talk to them about every subject
Do not let them sleepout if you do not know the friend
Communication is the key

Trust has to be earned and not just given. Now that you see your child be the person you raised them to be it’s time you relax a little. Every parent worries, cares, loves, nutures and shed tears for their child. Children are a miracle and a blessing to be on this earth.
