Cheetos Mighty Zingers Review

Cheetos fans have reason to rejoice thanks to the new Mighty Zingers. Available in two varieties, each bag contains two complementary flavors of bite-size Cheetos. I purchased both the Ragin’ Cajun & Tangy Ranch and the Sharp Cheddar & Salsa Picante Cheetos.

Cheetos Mighty Zingers Overview
Taste: Big flavor in bite-size chips
Price and Availability: $2.99 (MSRP), Grocery and convenience stores
Add to Shopping List: Yes.

Cheetos Mighty Zingers: First Impressions
The bold metallic bag has a perforation in the top right hand corner to create a pour spout for the small chips. The crunchy chips have the signature gnarled Cheetos shape and vary in size from crumb-like to bite size. Like popcorn, these Cheetos are best when eaten by the handful or a few pieces at a time.

Three eager testers helped rate these chips. Everyone liked the flavor, but the size was a dividing factor. The small bits were a tad annoying to eat. I joked that maybe they were remnants recycled from the production line. A ten-year-old taster loved this idea and said everyone should recycle. One taster said he almost needed to use a spoon to eat them. The third reviewer loved them because the small pieces were especially crunchy. (After purchasing several bags of each, the pea-size and smaller chips proved to be a rarity.)

Taste
The flavor combinations work well. Together, the Ragin’ Cajun & Tangy Ranch chips have a flavor reminiscent of buffalo wings and ranch dressing. Independently, the Ragin’ Cajun Cheetos have a subtle spicy flavor with a hint of sweetness. The Tangy Ranch chips taste like a mild blend of white cheddar and Hidden Valley Ranch salad dressing mix.

The Sharp Cheddar & Salsa Picante version is a variation of the standard Cheetos and the Flamin’ Hot flavor. Together, they make a spicy nacho flavor. Separately, the sharp cheddar chips have a strong cheese flavor with a slight tang like that of real sharp cheddar. The Salsa Picante chips are not as hot as the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, but the flavor is spicy with a burst of freshness — perhaps cilantro.

Where to Buy Cheetos Mighty Zingers
Finding Cheetos Mighty Zingers seems to be hit or miss. I tested the online locator tool using my zip code. The results listed several convenience stores, but did not include the grocery store where I purchased the Cheetos.

Price of Mighty Zingers
The package label has a $2.99 price tag, but I have seen these as cheap as $1.99 per bag. Kroger currently has them for $2.73.

Mighty Zingers Nutrition Content
Interestingly, the label lists each flavor’s ingredients separately. According to the package’s nutrition facts, each 9.5-ounce bag contains ten servings. Both varieties are gluten free and have similar nutritional content. Each serving has 150 calories with 90 calories from fat. (See photos for the nutrition labels.) Visit the Frito Lay website for additional information.

Frito Lay accurately presents Mighty Zingers as small chips with big flavor. Otherwise, the miniature chips would have likely been an unpleasant surprise.
