Canned Food Review: Del Monte Cream Style White Corn

I recently spotted Del Monte Cream Style White Corn at my local grocery store, in the canned vegetable section. I had never tried white corn and I wondered how this corn differed in taste from yellow corn. I decided to purchase this product. Here is what I discovered!

Del Monte Cream Style White Corn costs around one dollar for a medium sized four hundred and eighteen gram can. That is close to fifteen ounces of corn. I consider that an average price. It was not what I consider a bargain price, though. This product states on the can that it is made with fresh cut corn and that this particular line of vegetables is called specialties. This product is also guaranteed to be fresh packed. Del Monte Cream Style White Corn has no preservatives.

To prepare this product, I used the microwave. It only took a few minutes to heat in a covered microwave safe bowl. You then season this product, stir and serve. I added a small amount of butter, salt and pepper to this dish. You can also prepare Del Monte Cream Style White Corn on the stovetop in a sauce pan, if you wish. I found the taste of this corn to be good, when I tried it. It did have a fresh taste. I was disappointed because in my opinion, Del Monte’s yellow creamed corn tastes much better than the cream style white corn. The white cream style corn does not have as much flavor or sweetness as creamed yellow corn. The overall quality of this product was fine.

Del Monte Cream Style White Corn contains corn, water, sugar, modified food starch and salt. This product has three and one half servings per can. One serving contains one hundred calories. Only ten of those calories are from fat. This product has one gram of total fat, zero grams of saturated fat and zero grams of trans fat. This corn has zero mgs of cholesterol! The sodium content is three hundred and sixty mgs, total carbs are twenty-one grams, dietary fiber is two grams, sugars are six grams and protein is two grams. One serving of Del Monte Cream Style White Corn provided me with four percent of my daily vitamin C requirement and two percent of my daily iron need.

This product can be served alone or used in recipes. I rate Del Monte Cream Style White Corn three and one half stars out of five stars. I found this product very interesting and I am glad that I tried it but, I doubt if I will be buying this product again. It’s taste is a bit bland and I like the flavor of the yellow creamed corn much better. Del Monte Cream Style White Corn is distributed by Del Monte Foods located in San Francisco, CA. This product is packed in the U.S.A. and is guaranteed to be fresh.
