Living in Chicago and don’t know what to do? Well here are some really interesting day trips that will keep you busy. One place to visit when it starts to warm up is Naperville, Illinois to go to the Centennial Beach. This beach is located in the Naperville Park District where you can enjoy the beach and if you don’t feel like soaking up the sun you can explore their magnificent park. And for all you beach lovers, you can start going on May 28th. This beach will stay open til September 5th and the usual time it’s open is 11a.m. to 8p.m. so you have the entire day to enjoy! And for those that have young ones, there’s a shallow area so the children can play too without any danger while the lifeguards observe everything going on. With playgrounds, diving boards, concession stands and 6 acres to walk through this trip is wonderful for those who enjoy the outdoors.
Another trip less than 75 minutes away is Harbor Country in southwest Michigan. It’s an area that is made up of many cities that all have special attractions to them so you have more to choose from. All of the area has white sandy beaches that people are crazy about. For those interested in art you could visit the New Buffalo Performing Arts Center or visit one of the many extravagant theaters that they provide there. And the great thing about a trip here is it’s a trip for any season so there’s no specific time that’s best to go. Along with the many festivals they have during the spring and summer, Harbor Country is an amazing place to visit.
Lake Geneva is a town that is known for things that can constantly keep you occupied. This has Lake Geneva located in the middle of it. This trip is only 75 miles away from Chicago so it still gives you that sense of going on vacation without having to pay for expensive plane tickets. Also another great place for every season you can ski, ice skate and snowmobile during winter while boating, hiking, and golfing in the warmer seasons. Another activity that is quit interesting is their Classic Car show that can amaze the biggest car lovers. Lake Geneva is on the border of Wisconsin and a great place to consider.
If you want a shorter trip just go to Oak Park which is only 20 minutes away from Chicago. Being a very historic place there are tons of historical places you can visit and as your visiting you can see the prairie style houses that occupy that area. Also you can take tours depending on what you want to see and you can take a tour that will take you to see just the historical sites. But that’s not all they offer. You can shop and eat at some very nice places. And a last trip that you could consider is Starved Rock only 94 miles southwest of Chicago. This is great if you love the outdoors. Many that come here are fishing, boating, horseback riding and camping. With many paths to walk on you don’t have to climb over dangerous rocks. And for those that want to have a picnic, Starved Rock has a huge area specifically for that. All of these locations are amazing to visit next time you want to go on a little day trip.
