Bath Product: Philosophy’s Gingerbread Man

Philosophy is known for having some great smelling products, but are they worth the price? With other wonderful shops like Bath & Body Work, and Perlier producing their own line of wonderful smelling goodies, what really sets Philosophy apart from the rest, I asked myself these same question. I’ll admit I’m a long time fan of Bath & Body Works, and I’ve also been know to buy even the cheapest products on the market, such as Suave. So, taking the risk and buying a product that smelled close to much more affordable products on the market, wasn’t something I was willing to do. I mean after all it is mainly the name brand your paying for, right?

Then the day came when I needed a little pick me up, and splurged buying “The Gingerbread Man” three piece gift set from the Philosophy website. This 3 piece set included a 8 ounce bottle of 3-in-1 (shower gel, bubble bath, & shampoo in one bottle), a 2 ounce tube of shimmering body lotion, and a generous tube of lip shine. All three pieces can packaged in a really cute, reusable hat box. The total cost for these 3 pieces was only $35.00, but still a bit pricey for me, or so I thought.

Let’s fast forward to bath time. I started running my bath water, and poured about 2 cap fulls under the running water, with hopes of being able to smell the Gingerbread man scent as I soaked. What I got was a tub completely full of bubbles, and a wonderful smell that filled the entire room. Not only was the bubbles great to look at, but the water was like silk. Honestly, I set in the tub until the water turned cold, and there was still a tub full of bubbles. After I got out of the the tub, and dried off, my skin was so soft, and had a very light Gingerbread man scent to it.

Later that night I rubbed a small amount of the shimmering lotion on my arms and legs, and was just as pleased. The lotion is soft, and rubs in smoothly. There is no waxy residue, or oiliness to this lotion at all. The Gingerbread man scent is very light in the lotion, so you can wear it night or day without worrying about it interfering with your perfume. The shimmering glow lasted me throughout the following morning, which is nice. This does not make your skin look like it has glitter on it, like some of the teen products. It simply gives your skin a healthy moisturized glow.

The lip shine on the other hand was my least favorite. It does make your lips shine, and it smells good, but that’s about all. I found it to be rather sticky, and thick. Plus the shine was a little more then I had hoped for, it looked like my lips was oily. I guess to sum it up, it just looked, and felt unnatural.

The 3-in-1 was by far my favorite product. As a shampoo, it only took a dime size amount to lather my hair up amazingly, and it left my hair feeling soft, without any conditioners. As a shower gel, again a small dime size amount gives you a ton of lather. Honestly I’ve used this same 8 oz bottle for 2 weeks, and still have a little left. I have reordered, but this time I order just a 16 oz bottle of the 3-in-1.

I highly recommend this product for anyone who loves the smell of Gingerbread men. The 3 piece set is a great “try me” starter kit and is available at www.philosophy.com.

P.S.
Don’t forget about the cute little hat box that the 3 piece Gingerbread man set is shipped in. It’s a great little box, that can be used for hundreds of things. I used mine to store some photo’s in.
