Baby Emily: Doll Collectors’ and Little Girls’ Dream Come True

My cousin and I have collected baby dolls since … well … since we were babies ourselves – only our moms actually started the collection. Most little girls grow out of their baby-doll collections, except for that small percentage of women who still collect baby dolls like us.

We collect realistic vinyl dolls, and porcelain ones as well. Our collection though is not meant for children. Their sole purpose is to just sit on a shelf looking cute.

My cousin though took her obsession a step further by ordering a very expensive lifelike baby doll. Baby Emily. She is the first “So Truly Real” baby doll designed by Linda Webb, and can be found at www.collectiblestoday.com.

My cousin actually picked up a postcard at the exit door at our local Walmart. She was giddy with excitement when she saw the doll on the cards photo, but I did not think she was going to actually order her.

We both fell in love with the realistic doll, but me – I was not looking to spend $150 on a doll. My cousin though, I guess she felt it was no big deal, so she went ahead and bought the doll. I was jealous, I wanted her! But I knew I would be able to view the doll because at the time my cousin was living in our home, so when it was delivered I was present.

It took about 4 weeks for her to come in, but my God was the wait well worth it.

Baby Emily came neatly packed in the standard cardboard box with the Ashton Drake labeling on it. Inside was baby Emily, along with her came a birth certificate, a certificate of authenticity, and her clothing.

Everything about her was so realistic, it truly looked as if she was a real baby fast asleep in her box. Her hair is real, with no nasty globs of glue, and no wigs. Each strand is placed on the head to make it look as if it is truly growing from the scalp.

Her fingernails are professionally painted to look just like an actual babies finger nails. Her arms legs and head are all made from vinyl, and her body is weighted cotton, she is weighted to match that of an actual baby, and she measures in at 22 inches long.

Baby Emily also came with a hospital bracelet and 6 birth announcements. The birth announcements were extremely creepy…but for those who are creepy like that go ahead and send them out to your friends…(cough…weirdo…cough, cough).

Emily will come to your home dresses in a pink knitted outfit, however you can easily change her clothing, as she fits in most 1-3 month old baby clothes.

Emily truly looked so real that we actually thought it would be funny to bring her to my grandmothers house, leave her in my nieces car seat and knock on the door and run. My granny is 85, and she got quite the scare. She actually cried when she realized it was a fake doll. She always dreamed of someone knocking on the door and leaving a baby, so when she discovered the baby was umm…vinyl, she was a bit disappointed. Hehe. It was still funny though. I know; we suck.

Other dolls are available in the so truly real collection of realistic dolls. Emily however was the first, and was even judged as the doll of the year. The doll maker was given many different awards, and baby Emily opened the door to the huge selection of realistic dolls now available.

Recommendation:

Baby Emily is meant for doll collectors, but for those of you whom have very careful little girls, who take care of their things this doll would be perfect for them. Baby Emily is truly a doll collector’s and little girl’s dream come true.
