A Guide to Buying Organic Baby Clothes

It seems like lately the trend is to buy organic products. Organic milk, organic vegetables, organic bananas… organic baby clothes. Organic baby clothes? Did you read that right? Yes, you did.

My family buys a lot of organic foods and products. We believe that if it’s man made, it probably isn’t that good for you. One of the benefits to buying organic cotton is the effect on the environment alone. Most conventional cotton is grown with the use of pesticides and harmful chemicals that hurt the environment and can be irritating to a baby’s skin. When you purchase organic baby clothes, you are helping save the environment and keeping harmful chemicals away from your baby’s skin. Conventionally grown cotton can trap heat against a baby’s skin, causing rashes and eczema on sensitive skin. Also, organic cotton typically lasts longer than regular cotton. One of the only drawbacks to buying organic is the price. Organic products are almost always more expensive than conventional products.

The new trend is to buy organic baby clothes. Where do you buy them? There are many places.

Walmart, one of the world’s largest retailers, has joined in on the organic baby clothes wagon. You can get a 4 pack of newborn organic baby onesies for $8.97 at your local Walmart store. I think it’s great that Walmart has decided to carry organic baby clothes because many parents may want to buy the best for their babies but are unable to afford it. At Walmart, they will be able to buy their baby organic clothes at a reasonable price.

Speesees is an online retailer of organic baby clothes. They actually have a page explaining the benefits of buying organic baby clothes. They have a very extensive clearance section, so hopefully you can snag some bargains there!

Sckoon is another retailer you can purchase organic baby clothes from. Their prices range from $10 for booties, all the way up to $173 for an eight piece clothing set. They also sell organic diapers, toys, and pet clothing as well.

Sage Creek Naturals has actual stores you can visit to purchase organic baby clothes. They carry organic cotton baby clothes, organic bedding, and gifts. They offer free shipping to the US for orders totaling $100 or more if you do not have a store close to you. This is one of the most expensive stores I found, with layette sets starting at $44 and going up to $112.

Pure Beginnings carries natural baby skincare as well as organic baby clothes. They offer two types of gift sets, one for $65 and the other for $85. This is one of the best stores to buy natural skin care products from.

All Natural Baby has one of the widest varieties of products of any retailer of organic baby clothes. They carry baby clothing, skin care, toys, sunscreen, and blankets.

When buying organic baby clothes, keep in mind where you are purchasing from. If you are buying products from far away, then there will be the gas that has to be used to transport products. If you’re buying organic to help save the environment, it would make more sense to buy it locally. Check out small boutiques, natural food stores, and even your friends. Chances are, if they’ve bought organic baby clothes they’ll hold on to them to share them with someone else! We all can do our part to save the earth one cotton ball at a time.
