A Comparison of Garnier Fructis and Suave Professionals Sleek Shampoos

Having recently quit my day job, moving to another state and starting my own jewelry making business, I’ve lately found myself looking for new ways to live on a tight budget. So, I recently took up Suave on their claim to fame for providing great products “for less than more expensive brands”. Prior to using Suave shampoo, I was using Garnier Fructis’ Sleek & Shine, so my direct findings are based on the comparison of that and Suave Professionals Sleek Shampoo.

I personally have thick wavy hair, and because my fiance and I take frequent motorcycle rides, you could say that my hair is less than well cared for. I like to pull my hair back in a pony tail or braid before we ride, but it still takes much abuse from the wind of those beautiful country roads we often visit. In addition to that, when it’s time to brush my hair again, I’m not as gentle as I should be. I have enough hair on my head, that it wouldn’t hurt me to loose a few strands so I just pull that brush through and get the job done. Based on those two things alone, I tend to always buy shampoo that helps people who have frizzy hair. My review today is based on a comparison of ‘Garnier Fructis’ and ‘Suave Professionals’ sleek shampoos. Which one is better? I’ll let you decide…

Garnier Fructis’ Sleek & Shine Shampoo typically comes in a 13oz. container, and is currently selling for $3.99 on Walgreens.com. It has a light fruity smell, cleans well and although it didn’t tame my wavy hair, it didn’t really make it worse either. Sometimes if a shampoo has really great cleansing properties, it can tend to dry out my hair making it even more frizzy than it already is, but this one was pleasant to use, rinsed well, left my hair feeling light and clean and smelling good.

Suave Professionals Sleek Shampoo is currently selling for $2.49 on Walgreens.com and comes in a 14.5oz container. This one has a more clinically clean smell to it than the light fruity fragrance of Garnier, but it otherwise provides many of the same properties that Garnier’s Sleek shampoo offers. Suave Professionals Sleek shampoo cleans nicely, rinses well, and leaves my hair feeling light and clean without any frizz.

When deciding which product is a better value, there are a few simple things to weigh out, but both shampoos are affordable and provide basically the same results. With Suave’s sleek shampoo, you get 14.5oz for $2.49, so you are paying roughly 18cents per ounce. While with Garnier’s sleek shampoo, you get 13oz for $3.99, so that one costs roughly 31cents per ounce. Garnier has a much more pleasant fragrance than Suave, but both provide basically the same results for an affordable price. If your priorities lie on the fragrance of a shampoo, I’d suggest going for the Garnier, however if you are purely interested in buying a product that wont damage your hair for the best price, Suave is your answer. Even though Garnier and Suave are both on the affordable side of hair care products, I guess the truth lies in the simple fact that you get what you pay for. As for me, I don’t mind paying a little extra to have nicer smelling hair.
