Stud Finder

The Zircon I520 enables you to find the center and edges of studs. It can find them behind walls, ceilings, and floors. You can find this model for an average price of $50. Here are some of the features that it offers.

Studs

The Zircon I520 can detect both wood and metal studs. It also offers two stud scanning modes. In the normal mode, it can detect studs that are located up to 3/4 inches deep. You can detect studs located up to 1 1/2 inches deep using the DeepScan mode.

Metal

The Zircon I520 stud finder is also useful for locating metal. You can use it to find both non-ferrous and ferrous metal. Non-ferrous metals such as copper can be detected up to 1 1/2 inches deep. You can locate rebar and other ferrous metals up to three inches deep.

Wire

You can also use the Zircon I520 to locate live, unshielded wire. When the unit detects live wire, it will give you a warning, even if you’re operating in the metal or stud-scanning modes. The unit can detect these live wires if they’re no more than two inches deep.

Display

The Zircon I520 stud finder is equipped with an ultra-bright LCD screen. You should have no trouble seeing it no matter what the lighting conditions are. This screen displays the direction of a stud, as well as its edges and center.

Targets

You will be notified in multiple ways whenever you locate a target. A laser pointing system will point you in the right path. The Zircon I520 will also emit an audio tone whenever you find a target. If you want to be able to tell the difference between deep and shallow targets, you’ll like the fact that the tool has a signal strength indicator.
