Working with Contact Forms in Joomla

In this tutorial I will show you how to work with the contact forms in Joomla. Contact forms are created so that visitors can contact a user or the administrator. Adding contact forms is a great way for visitors to contact you. By using the contact form your email address won’t be displayed for all the spammers to see.

How to Add a Contact Form

Log in to your Joomla admin panel. Go to the top of your Joomla window and click Components > Contacts > Manage Contacts. That will bring up the Contacts Manager page. On that page you will see some buttons at the top right of the page. Click the New button. This will allow you to create a new contact form.

On the next page you will need to fill in the fields. Under the Category field, drop that box down and select Contacts. Under Linked to User, drop that box down and select Administrator. Fill in the remaining fields. Filling in your street address is your choice.

On the right side of the page you will see three tabs. Click on the Publishing tab. Click yes for the publish field. Click Public in the Access field.

If you want to add an image to the contact form click on the Images tab. Drop the box down and select the image that you want to use.

Click on the Parameters tab and set those options to what you want. You can choose what you want shown and what you want hidden on the contact form.

Click the Save button at the top of your Joomla window. The Save button is over where the New button was. Now you will be carried back to the Contacts Manager page. Your new contact form should be listed on this page.

How to Delete a Contact Form

Log in to your admin panel. Click Components > Contacts > Manage Contacts at the top of your Joomla window. The Contacts Manager page will come up. Find the contact form that you want to delete. Beside that contact form you will see a box. Check that box and click the Delete button at the top right of your screen. That will delete the contact form.

How to Edit a Contact Form

Log in to your admin panel. Click Components > Contacts > Manage Contacts at the top of your Joomla window. The Contacts Manager page will come up. Click on the name of the contact form that you want to edit. The contact form will come up. Edit the form and then click the Save button.

How to Unpublish a Contact Form

Log in to your admin panel. Click Components > Contacts > Manage Contacts at the top of your Joomla window. The Contacts Manager page will come up. Find the contact form that you want to unpublish. Click the green checkmark beside the form to unpublish it.
