This is a fun ride that has as its only limitation an age requirement of 12 years old for obvious safety reason.

Cloquet River, St. Louis County, MN. Your on your own navigating this 11 mile stretch of river in St. Louis county meant for both rafting and kayaking. While you won’t find any Class 4 or 5 falls to make you think twice about proceeding, it is important to make certain of your standard and safety equipment whenever you are paddling without a guide.

The 11 mile stretch itself contains Level 1 and 2 rapids that will give you a ripple but shouldn’t be overpowering especially to the experience. The area around the river is a scenic delight and the temperature throughout the summer tends to run in the 70’s Like many others who have visited this stretch of river you will find yourself wanting to come back to enjoy the near perfect paddling conditions you will find. There is also camping available near the Cloquet River so you can make this an overnight experience. The Cloquet River site can be found from U. S. Route 53 to U. S. Route 2.

Amity Creek, MN. If you are an experienced whitewater rafter and those you are with are also well skilled you may want to tackle the short but demanding Amity Creek Run. Total distance is only a brief two and one half miles of river but you’ll get your share of thrills and plenty of paddling in just the same. The only really open spot for whitewater paddling on Amity Creek runs between Skyline Parkway and the Lester River.

What is attractive, to the adventurous at least, is that the whitewater here will definitely give you a run for your money. All whitewater experiences are at the Level IV and V classification. This is not a place to bring novices or the faint of heart. This is challenging stuff. Because the actual run is short you may find yourself walking back over and over to enjoy the thrill once again. There is camping available in the Amity Creek area but you can also get a bed with sheets and a hot shower in several nearby motels.
