Where to Find Green Glassware or Drinkware

Green glassware makes an elegant statement for both a holiday table and casual dining. While there are all sorts of light green contemporary glass patterns available at places like Target and at Macy’s (check out the Villeroy & Boch line of Boston Green), dark green glassware and drinkware is a bit harder to come by.

There are still a few online merchants with dark green stemware and glassware in stock starting with Certified International which produces a line of dark green stemware that’s every bit as pretty as the vintage stemware. The line is called Glass Stemware Green and comes in an assortment of sizes including a red wine glass, water goblet, and wine glass. The stemware is sold in sets of four and are currently on sale at $35.50 per set. This line is sold through Dinnerplates.com.

Gorham produces deep green drinkware in the Touch Of Gold collection. This casual stemware comes in a 10 ounce goblet size for $9.95 a stem and an iced beverage, also a $9.95 stem through Dinnerplates.com. Lenox also has a line of dark green stemware in the Tuscany Harvest. This line is presently out of stock, but definitely worth keeping an eye out for.

Aside from these three companies which are still producing stemware in dark green, all the rest of that colorful, dark green glassware must be purchased from antique shops, Replacements.com or on eBay.

Pattern names of Vintage Green Glassware

My favorite brand of green glassware is a vintage line called “Sandwich” which was made in the forest green color by Anchor Hocking. Forest Green is probably the most popular of the Anchor Hocking colors, and while the phrase “Forest Green” actually refers to the color used in the glassware, over time the color name became more popular than the actual pattern name. A search of “Forest Green – Anchor Hocking” will turn up a fantastic assortment of dark green glassware in the Charm, Bubble, Honeysuckle, or Sandwich pattern line.

A second line worth collecting is the retro Gothic glassware that the Tiffin Glass Company produced for the Franciscan company back in the 1970s. These chunky funky stemware pieces came in at least 5 different sizes and quite a few colors, including a lovely shade of mint green. These pieces are still quite affordable and easy to find on-line.

If your interest is more in that elegant depression era green stemware and glassware, companies and lines to search for include English Hobnail Line 555 in green by the Westmoreland Glass Company; Colonial Block in green by the Hazel Lattes Glass company; Fruits by the Federal Glass Company; Byzantine by the Cambridge Glass Company; and Seville by Fostoria.

Vintage green stemware and glassware makes a fabulous addition to any table. The drawback of choosing this color is that it can take many years to assemble a decent size collection for use at a Holiday dinner table.
