The Twilight Saga is quickly becoming a popular film series, so here are some tips for you to use this Halloween season to pull off the perfect Bella Swan costume.
The first thing you should know is that Bella is shown in the film, as well as being described in the book, as having pale skin, with dark hair. For this, a white face powder paired with a dark brown wig (if your hair isn’t currently long and dark) will work. White face powder can be found in several Costume stores, as well as many different pharmacies, in the costume and accessories section, and make up stores. For the eyes, a dark eyeshadow on the upper eye lid, along with eyeliner and mascara will help bring out the eyes, and will help to match the overall look of the character.
To apply the make up, start by lightly spreading the white face powder with the sponge that should come included in the powder package. Once you’ve applied an even amount of the white powder to your face, apply a light amount of black or gray eyeshadow onto the upper lid and corner of your eye near the bridge of the nose. Also use a black eyeliner pencil to add a darker eye. Even though it is optional, you can also add mascara to the lashes. Bella’s hair is also somewhat messy and wavy; for this, try flipping the hair and maybe using hairspray through the waves to hold the hair’s shape.
Bella’s clothing consists of a basic pair of sneakers or boots, bootcut jeans, and a band tee-shirt or a floral blouse. Over this, Bella sometimes wears a heavy coat. (Keep in mind, this story takes place when it’s raining in cold, the coat’s not necessarily needed). But the band tee-shirt or floral blouse (with a tank top underneath) are essential for Bella’s moody look.
An alternate idea for a Bella costume, is Bella at her prom. In the movie, Bella breaks her leg, and goes to prom on crutches. For this costume you’ll need crutches (of course), possibly a leg brace, and a dress. Bella wears a blue halter dress, a similar version can be found at Target (see links). Over the dress, Bella wears a cream colored Bolero jacket and underneath the dress, a pair of grey leggings. With this costume, Bella once again wears sneakers.
