Tuscan Inspired Patchwork Quilting

Vivid Tuscan-Style Quilts

Deep rich colors of Tuscany hillsides are accentuated by vibrant blues, golden yellows, and shades of wine, in these free, applique and patchwork quilt patterns. Here are designer-collections to create a family heirloom quilt in the styles of Romanesque mosaic flooring, Italian frescoes, and Bargello stitching, in old world countryside charm.

Old World Patchwork Quilt Patterns

Countryside olive green and brown paisley prints are the backdrop colors for lavender squares, arranged over ivory-marbled fabrics, as presented in this “La Scala 3 Pattern” by Robert Kaufman Fabrics, as is this “Holiday Medallion Pattern” quilt in Old World Christmas ornamentation shades of olive, burgundy, and oatmeal.

Romanesque Mosaic Quilts

Archeological digs have uncovered floor mosaics in the homes of ancient (wealthy) Romans, consisting of small patchwork-patterned tiles laid into the ground, and the following quilt patterns are reminiscent of these antiquities. The marbleized and Florentine-pattern fabrics of this “Porcelana” star patchwork looks like marble tile, in dark green, with pops of bright turquoise, and yellow, while the deep rich tones of olive green, brown, gold, and black also have a sense of marbled tiles, as in this “Autumn Sunset Coverlet” quilt, both by RJR Fabrics.

The look of marble flooring is also represented in this “Dazzling Jewels Pattern” quilt, with Florentine-print ground of beige and browns, and eye-popping sapphire-blue accents. The wall-hanging quilt “Into the Night Pattern” also has the characteristics of marble floor tiles, in beige, brown, and gray neutrals, both by Robert Kaufman Fabrics.

Bargello-Pattern Quilt Designs

The distinct Bargello needlepoint designs are reflected in colorful woven shadings, and grouped block patterns, suggesting handcrafted needlework from the old country. Imitation needlework patched-quilt pieces, as displayed in “Permission to Play Pattern”, and colors a distinctive Tuscan palette of blue, gold, terracotta, green, and beige, in a familiar satin-stitch, basket-weave pattern.

A Bargello-patterned flower, bursting with color, is presented in this advanced quilt, boasting a stylized “Summer Lily”, with intricate use of small sections, and graduated shades of purple grapes and sparkling wines. Mock-stitched Bargello dimensional-patterns are shown in rich, vivid grape-blue shades of Tuscany, as shown in this “Faberge” quilt, as well as this advanced-skill level, star-quilt pattern “Mariposa”, all from RJR Fabrics.

Hillside Quilt Scenes of Tuscany

Fruit, flora, and fauna are the inspiration for brightly colored field flowers, and grapevine vineyards of the Tuscan hillsides. This block-quilt “Tuscan Wildflower Pattern” sweeps a rustic wildflower border around an inset-patchwork of stylized flowers, in cream and golden yellows, with bright blue accents, by Robert Kaufman Fabrics.

This dramatic golden-trimmed “Nights In Marseilles” quilt shows rows of burgundy field flowers, highlighted by vibrant-blue trimmings, as is this “Ravello” quilt with floral blocks between vibrant blue and terracotta stars. And this floral block-print quilt-hanging, “Woven In Time” mixes deep olives, with sunshine fields of burgundy flowers, all from RJR Fabrics.

Tuscan Villa Countryside Quilts

Bring the hillside flowers indoors for display, on this ribbon-trimmed bed quilt “Border Garden in Blue” with yellow and wine, on a creamery ground is the perfect cottage decor, by RJR Fabrics, as is this wall hanging in pale pink roses with ivory Florentine prints, highlighted by a center motif depicting country villa “Home & Garden”. From AllPeopleQuilt.com comes this centered, applique-floral design, with surrounding vines and corner detailing, “Fused Garden Blooms” displays rich, vibrant shades of blue grapes and burgundy wine.

An easy quilt of appliqued floral vases is shown in this “Baltimore Beauties Pattern”, in deep rich tapestry prints, with bright blue accents, by Robert Kaufman Fabrics, as is this cheerful appliqued fruit bowl, as presented in “Spoken Without a Word Pattern”, shown with vining-border details, in a multi-colored patchwork theme on white. Find a quilt pattern style to compliment your decor, and whichever Tuscan-inspired heirloom quilt you create, will become the focal point of any room.
