Top Five Best Flavorful Beers for Summer

Despite the highly-visible old Miller Lite commercials about “Man Laws” including the well known “Don’t Fruit the Beer,” it seems as if more and more guys, and people in general, are finding new ways to enjoy one of their favorite drinks.

The top five best flavored beers for summer all have that extra kick and in most cases a lighter and/or fruitier flavor to add a little something special to one of summer’s most refreshing favorites.

This list includes both beers that have been infused with extra flavor and a popular lighter beer that goes well with fruit squeezed into it, although the popular Corona (usually drank with lime) didn’t quite make the list, which follows:

5. Blue Moon-

This Belgian-style specialty beer made by Coors features a lighter but still complex white wheat flavor, and it has become so popular over the past decade that it can now be found at many convenience stores and grocery stores, usually in six-pack bottles.

This is one of the best flavored beers for summer and it becomes even better with an some juice from an orange squeezed into it, even though you might end up breaking a so-called “man rule” for doing so. It’s definitely worth it.

4. Bud Light Lime-

Despite coming from an industry giant in Budweiser and still being mass-produced, Bud Light Lime has gained a foothold on the summer beer market and has maintained its light but classic flavor.

After some initial concerns the brand has taken off and become a staple of many barbeques and fishing trips even among guys who were afraid to try it in the past perhaps because of petty, misguided image concerns.

3. Sam Adams Summer Ale-

Sam Adams is known for its darker, more robust beer flavors but the aptly-named Summer Ale is one of its most refreshing brews and is perfect for summertime with its lemon notes, the “grains of paradise” spice and unique overall wheat ale-based flavor. Sam Adams is perhaps one of the best brewers not just in America but in the world and this is one of their signature flavors.

2. Oberon-

Many 20-somethings look forward to the day this popular spring/summeritme wheat ale brew is released each year and for good reason as it is another signature seasonal favorite. The beer is made by Michigan-based Bell’s and distributed in about 15 states and the District of Columbia. It comes in bottles and the ubiquitous mini-kegs and is one of the more successful seasonal beers created, seemingly gaining momentum each year.

1. Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy-

Mixing lemonade with beer sounds like a perfect summer plan, and that recipe comes together quite nicely in the form of this Wisconsin-created special brew.

This one is definitely sweeter than most of the others on the list of the top five bes flavored beers for summer but it steers clear of falling into the same territory as a Mike’s Hard Lemonade or similar malt beverage.

Summer Shandy is the perfect complement to a lazy day at the ballpark or any other summer activity that fans of the beer can dream up and that’s what makes it number one on the list.
