Top Baseball Players of the 1920’s

You know if you really think about it, it is really cool that the game of baseball was not only being played in the 1920’s; it was also being documented. Many of today’s great baseball players are still reading up on these players and are striving to be like them. To be that legendary after all of these years is more than amazing. Who are some of these top players?

Babe Ruth

You don’t have to be a fan of baseball to know this name. His real name is George Herman Ruth. He may be one of the most recognizable names in the baseball, even today. In 1927, Babe set a record of 60 homeruns. This record was not broken until 1961 by Roger Eugene Maris.

Lou Gehrig:

Lou is known for playing a record number of consecutive games for the New York Yankees. The total is 2,130.

Hi Bell

Hi Bell is a famous pitcher and the last pitcher in Major league history who started and ended a game that became a double header. This happened in 1924.

Ed Roush:

Ed was one of the first highest paid hitters of his time. In 1926, he was given a three year contract by The Giants and was paid $22,500. This may have started the trend of paying athletes the high amounts of money.

Ray Chapman

Sadly, Ray is a well known baseball player from the 1920, who died from being hit in the head during a game against the White Sox. Ray played shortstop for the Cleveland Indians. He was rushed to the hospital after his injury. But he died the following morning. He was considered a boy wonder on the baseball field

These ba.seball players will never be forgotten. Their stories and their adventurous will live on in history books and in the minds of baseball lovers for many more years to come.
