Top 5 Ways to Whiten Teeth Naturally

You don’t have to pay big bucks at a cosmetic dentist to have whiten teeth. Nor do you need to spend a lot of money on store-bought remedies to whiten teeth. There are a number of natural ways to whiten teeth that can work just as well as expensive remedies. Here are the top five ways to whiten teeth naturally!

Crunchy Vegetables. Crunchy vegetables such as carrots, celery and cucumbers work great at getting tough stains off and whitening teeth. Their cellulose properties can grind away at tough stains on your teeth with the result of whiter teeth.

Peroxide and Baking Soda. Many over-the-counter teeth whiteners as well as whitening toothpastes use peroxide, baking soda, or both in their products. While the peroxide you buy over the counter is not as concentrated as the dose in the teeth whitening products, it can still work wonders on your teeth. Simply mix a small amount of these two products together and brush your teeth gently, avoiding the gum area. It is important to note that these two products, alone or together, can irritate the gums. So make an effort to avoid brushing your gums to avoid irritation.

Acidic Fruits. Fruits that contain high levels of acid, such as lemons and strawberries taste great and have natural properties that can whiten your teeth. Some people have been known to actually rub lemon juice or a lemon peel directly onto teeth to whiten teeth naturally. The problem is that acids in these fruits can eat away at protective enamel on your teeth over time. So avoid rubbing these fruits directly on your teeth for extended periods of time. If you use acidic fruits for teeth whitening, use this method only sporadically along with a more regular use of a peroxide or baking soda rinse and a diet rich in crunchy vegetables to achieve the best overall result of whiter teeth.

Eliminate Yellowing Behaviors. There are a number of rather addictive behaviors that can counteract any efforts you take of whitening your teeth. These including smoking, and drinking coffee, tea, and tobacco products. While removing these products from your daily life won’t actually whiten teeth, it will prevent furthering staining over time.

The Right Toothpaste. Many people use an over-the-counter toothpaste rather than a home-made product. Since you typically brush two to three times a day anyway, this is a great opportunity to incorporate toothbrushing with whitening your teeth. Consider buying a toothpaste that already includes a teeth whitening aspect, such as those with peroxide and baking soda included. Brushing at opportune times, such as after eating or drinking items that will stain your teeth over time, will also aid in teeth whitening efforts.

Including these products into your diet or daily routine will help you to whiten your teeth without the use of expensive teeth whitening kits or visits to the cosmetic dentist.
