Top 5 Reasons To Watch “Ghost Adventures”

I have a new addiction and it comes in the form of the television show “Ghost Adventures.” To put it simply this show rocks! Sure it can be melodramatic and a little over the top, but those are just two of the reasons why if you start to watch, you’ll find yourself having a very hard time turning the channel.

To those of you who have never seen the show, “Ghost Adventures” airs Friday nights on The Travel Channel. It stars paranormal investigators Zak Bagans and Nick Groff as well as their camera tech Aaron Goodwin. They go to some of the spookiest places on earth to try and capture evidence of ghosts, spirits, demons and whatever else may be lurking on the other side. Still unsure if you should tune in? I’ll give you five good reasons why you should.

5. The Locations

This is one group of guys who aren’t afraid to go to some very creepy locations and spend an entire night being locked in. If there is an abandoned building that has a sordid past, they are all over it. Old prisons and mental hospitals? Sign them up. The spooky old house with the broken windows and cobwebs galore? They’ll feel right at home. What’s amazing is that some of their investigations are at normal, everyday places. Ones that you would never in a million years believe to be haunted. Goes to show you just never know…

4. The History

This one goes along with the locations. For the first part of the show they spend a good deal of time giving the viewers everything they could want to know about the places they go. It’s great to hear the locals spin yarns about the ghostly encounters they’ve had and about the legends of death that plague the history of the building. Nothing sets the mood better than a good ghost story and by the time the investigation is set to begin, you are primed and ready.

3. The Cool Gear

Believe when I tell you that what they use is not your grandma’s ghost hunting gear. How can you go wrong with names like the mel-8704REM and DAS-RT-EVP? It’s amazing what they literally pull out of their bag when they start the investigation. Think Ghostbusters without the ray guns. But I’ve got a feeling if they existed they would be the first to use them.

2. Seeing Aaron Scared

Poor, poor Aaron. Not only do they usually make him sit by himself in an attic or a basement, but he also seems to attract the attention of the ghosts. In a sense he is the everyman along for the ride, the one who would be like myself and probably most of us, scared and wide-eyed. His facial expressions when a sound is heard or something moves is nothing short of priceless. Aaron, I feel for you, buddy.

1. The Evidence

Okay, the reasons above are nice and all, but do they ever capture anything? It wouldn’t be a very good show if no ghosts ever showed up. You don’t have to worry. They manage to get some very compelling evidence. If nothing else, it will definitely get you thinking about the things we cannot see.

Well, there you have it. The top five reasons you should be tuning into The Travel Channel on Friday nights to watch “Ghost Adventures.” Just be warned that if you watch it once, you may find yourself hooked and unable to look away.
