Top 3 Burger Joints in Pensacola, FL

The number of great places to get a quality burger in Pensacola is quite awesome considering the relatively small size of the town. What differs more than the type of burgers served in the following restaurants, are the atmospheres and dining experiences you can expect.

McGuire’s Irish pub has been a Pensacola favorite for over 30 years. It is the winner of dozens of prestigious awards, and when you sit down to enjoy your meal, you’ll know why. McGuire’s extensive menu has an entire section devoted to their hamburgers alone. They are home to over 25 completely different burgers, from a smoked Gouda burger, to a Hawaiian pineapple burger, and everything in between. Each sandwich costs around $10 and comes with fries or baked beans. All of McGuire’s burgers share a common bond, they are made with fresh Black Angus beef and rubbed with a savory seasoning blend. I highly recommend McGuire’s to those looking for a more exciting dining experience, as McGuire’s is a bustling place which frequently features live music. McGuire’s Irish Pub is easy to find on E. Gregory St.

Jerry’s Drive-In is a more relaxed burger joint. It’s a great place to bring the kids for lunch and a creamy milkshake. You will have to go in and have a seat, because Jerry’s hasn’t actually been a drive-in for a lot of years. It is a ‘locals’ eatery for sure. When you are seated, menus don’t come automatically, you will be asked if you need one, because most customers are regulars who don’t. The lunch offerings are served a la carte. A juicy cheeseburger is $1.60, served hot, fresh, and made to order. By default the burgers come with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. But don’t forget the Jerry’s sauce! It is the secret sauce that makes the burger special (it’s good to dip fries in too), and you’ll find a bottle located on each table. Though you can’t quite pin-point what’s in the sauce, it is a flavor you’ll crave, and it will make a regular customer out of you. When you come to Jerry’s, located on E. Cervantes, don’t forget your cash, this old-school establishment doesn’t take plastic!

Grover’s Fingers and Wings, doesn’t sound like the ideal place to get a good hamburger, but what’s in a name? Sure, you can get some tasty chicken at Grover’s, but if you try their burgers, you won’t regret it. What makes Grover’s burgers so delectable, and special, are the buns. They are grilled to golden, warm, melt in your mouth perfection. The unique side items that Grover’s offers also compliment the goodness of a ‘Grover Burger’, which costs $3.79. Lose the mundane fries and try an order of crispy fried green tomatoes, with undoubtedly, the best homemade ranch out there. Grover’s does have some seating for dining in, but also has a drive-thru, and specializes in carry-out. It’s great for grabbing dinner on the way home from work. Grover’s is conveniently located on N. Davis Highway.

These are just a few of the many great places to get a burger in Pensacola. Of course it’s all a matter of opinion, and there may be better ones out there, but none that I’ve eaten at…yet!
