Top 10 Players from the 1993 NBA Draft

During the NBA draft the worst teams from the year before are awarded with high draft picks to keep parity in the NBA and help fill a teams needs. The Draft is important due to the ramifications it has on a team for years to come. One great draft pick can change a franchise and anyone has a chance to become a star and become the new face of the NBA. Here is a list of the top 10 NBA players from the 1993 NBA draft. The top 10 was decided by stats and career longevity in the NBA.

10. Rodney Rogers- Rogers was an effective player after being drafted by the Denver Nuggets with the 9th overall pick of the draft after having a successful college basketball career at Wake Forest.

9. Chris Mills- Mills was taken near the end of the first round as the 22nd overall pick out of Arizona by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Mills was a stellar shooter and finished his career with averages of 11.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game in the NBA.

8. Nick Van Exel- Van Exel was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers and turned out to be a good NBA player. Van Exel was drafted 37th overall and later became a scoring star for the Denver Nuggets. Van Exel finished his NBA career with averages of 14.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game.

7. Vin Baker- Baker was drafted 8th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks and played his college ball at Hartford. Baker was a four time all star and could have had more if he didn’t struggle with alcohol during the prime of his NBA career. Baker finished his NBA career with averages of 15 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

6. Anfernee Hardaway- “Penny” was a great NBA player before struggling with injuries during his NBA career. Penny was drafted by the Warriors with the 3rd pick of the NBA draft out of Memphis. Penny finished his career with averages of 15.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.

5. Sam Cassell- Cassell was drafted by the Rockets with the 24th overall pick out of Florida State University. Cassell was great at distributing the basketball and could also impress by scoring 40+ on any given night. Cassell finished his career with averages of 15.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 6 assists per game.

4. Isaiah Rider- Rider was always under the radar during his NBA career even though he was a lottery pick. Rider was drafted 5th overall out of UNLV and posted impressive career averages to get the 4th spot on the list. Rider has career averages of 16.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game.

3. Allan Houston- Houston was drafted with the 11th overall pick out of Tennessee and was a face of the New York Knicks franchise for many years. Houston had career averages of 17.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game.

2. Jamal Mashburn- Mashburn is another star that wasn’t recognized as much as he should have been in the NBA. Mashburn was drafted 4th overall by Kentucky and had career averages of 19.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4 assists per game.

1. Chris Webber- Webber had an exceptional college career at Michigan and was drafted as the number one overall pick by the Golden State Warriors. Webber nearly averaged a double-double for his career and finished with averages of 20.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.
